📉 In this economy, your budget isn’t optional — it’s survival.
When costs are rising and uncertainty is everywhere, your business budget becomes your safety net and your decision-making tool.
🧾 But here’s what most people don’t talk about:
If your budget is outdated, vague, or missing key expenses, it’s not helping you — it’s hurting you.
💼 In this kind of economy, business owners need to:
✅ Forecast cash flow
✅ Manage fluctuating expenses
✅ Plan for growth and slowdowns
✅ Stay ahead — not reactive
☕ Quick reality check:
Are you accounting for all your business costs?
Your budget should include:
📌 Subscriptions
📌 Marketing + Advertising
📌 Office Supplies
📌 Contract Labor
📌 Taxes
📌 Insurance
📌 Loan or Credit Card Interest
You don’t need to guess.
You need a clear plan.
🎯 Build a budget that works in the real world — not just on paper.

💬 Question of the Week:
“I’m a sole member LLC. Are my owner’s draws considered a business expense?”
📌 Quick answer: Nope.
An owner’s draw is not a business expense.
Instead, it’s a personal withdrawal from your equity in the business — your way of paying yourself as the owner.
💡 Here’s what actually happens:
✅ You’ve earned money through the business → it’s sitting in your business account
✅ When you transfer money to yourself, that’s called an owner’s draw
✅ That money comes out of your equity, not your expenses
📊 On your financial reports:
✅ It reduces your cash
✅ It reduces your owner’s equity
🚫 It does not reduce your net income
In short: You’re not getting a tax deduction for paying yourself this way.
But you’re also not being double-taxed.
✅ Works for: Sole proprietors, single-member LLCs, and partners
❌ Not the same for: S Corps (they follow payroll rules)
☕ If you’re unsure how to pay yourself properly, what’s deductible, or how your books should look — you’re not alone. Clarity starts with a conversation.

📉 Your business can’t grow if your finances are always playing catch-up.
🛠️ Hard work isn’t the problem — unclear systems are.
Entrepreneurial success takes more than long hours.
You need financial systems that help you make smart decisions, not just survive day-to-day chaos.
⚠️ Most business owners struggle financially because of three big issues:
✅ Inconsistent cash flow
✅ No real (or followed) budget
✅ Getting blindsided by unexpected expenses
When your numbers are messy or missing, you’re making decisions in the dark — risking your profit, growth, and peace of mind.
💼 Here’s how to turn that around:
✅ Start with clean, consistent bookkeeping that actually gives you clarity
✅ Review your cash flow monthly — not just at tax time
✅ Build a budget that supports your goals, not just your bills

🛑 Got a letter from the IRS?
Take a breath. Then read this:
⚠️ DON’T ignore it.
⚠️ DON’T panic.
⚠️ DON’T respond impulsively.
✅ DO review the information and take timely, appropriate action.
💼 The IRS might send a letter because:
• You owe a balance
• You’re owed a different refund amount
• They have a question about your return
• They’re verifying your identity
• They need additional information
• They changed something on your return
• They’re notifying you of delays
📬 The letter includes clear instructions — look for the phone number (top right corner) and mailing address.
Only respond if:
✅ They ask for more info
✅ You disagree with the notice
✅ You owe a balance
📌 Pro Tips for Trades Business Owners:
✅ Read every page before calling — it saves hours.
✅ Match the notice number (CP or LTR) to your tax year before acting.
✅ Keep a scanned copy on file — you’ll need it if you call.
💡 The biggest mistake? Ignoring the letter.
The second biggest? Calling before reviewing what they’re asking for.
Got questions? We help business owners handle this the smart way — without the stress.

Still confused about business meals? ☕💼
Let’s clear it up — because what the IRS actually allows might surprise you.
📌 Here’s the deal:
According to IRS standards, business meals are deductible only if:
✅ The meal isn’t considered lavish or extravagant
✅ You or one of your employees is present
So yeah… that $200 steak at a rooftop restaurant with your best friend? ❌ Probably not gonna fly.
But lunch with your project manager to map out next quarter? ✅ That counts.
💡 Pro tip:
✅ Track your receipts
✅ Note who attended and the purpose
✅ Keep it reasonable — and defendable
Staying organized saves more than stress — it protects your profit.

Still running your business on hope instead of a plan?
☕ You work hard — your money should too.
The old-school envelope system helped people budget better.
👉 Profit First is the updated, smarter system for running your business.
Instead of hoping there’s profit left at the end of the month, you move profit to safety first — and run your business with what’s left.
💼 Here’s the simple breakdown:
✅ Revenue comes in.
✅ You immediately split it into different buckets (or accounts):
• Profit
• Owner’s Pay
• Taxes
• Operating Expenses
✅ You only spend what’s in the right account — no surprises.
📊 Pro Tip:
Some banks even let you automatically split your deposits into the right places — no extra work needed after setup.
🛠️ Profit First helps you:
✅ Build real profit — not just big revenue numbers
✅ Pay yourself first (consistently!)
✅ Never scramble for tax payments
✅ Create stability, even when cash flow swings
📌 The bottom line:
Profit isn’t something you hope for — it’s something you plan for.

🚩 “TikTok told me I can deduct this…”
We hear this more often than you’d think — and it’s a red flag every time.
There’s a lot of tax and financial “advice” floating around social media.
But just because it’s trending doesn’t mean it’s true — or safe for your business.
Here’s the problem:
⚠️ Much of it is misleading, incomplete, or just flat-out wrong.
⚠️ What works for one person could get another into trouble.
⚠️ And once you file the wrong way? The IRS isn’t accepting TikTok as an excuse.
Here’s what actually works:
✅ Accounting pros stay trained, certified, and up to date — because the rules change constantly.
✅ Smart business owners don’t guess. They check with people who do this for a living.
✅ If you’re unsure, ask before you file — not after.
☕ Real talk: social media can inspire ideas, but it shouldn’t run your finances.
Your numbers deserve strategy — not trends.

🚗 If you’re not tracking your business mileage, you’re leaving money on the road.
Every trip counts — heading to a job site, meeting a client, picking up materials — you’re stacking up deductible business miles.
💸 But if you’re relying on memory, sticky notes, or half-filled spreadsheets...
you’re either missing deductions or creating a bookkeeping headache later.
📊 Here’s how to tighten it up:
✅ Track every business trip, not just the long ones
✅ Separate personal and business mileage
✅ Use a system you’ll actually stick with (or automate it!)
📱 Pro Tip: Everlance tracks mileage automatically — no manual logs, no stress.
💼 Want to be sure your mileage logs are IRS-compliant and synced with clean books?
🎯 Let’s set up your system the smart way.

💡 Ever wonder where the name Pittroe™ (pronounced pit row) came from?

It’s not just a name — it’s my story.

👷‍♀️ PITTsburgh, PA
🌸 MonROE, MI

Two hometowns where I grew up. Two places that taught me resilience, grit, and doing what needs to be done.

And even the logo has meaning, pulled straight from those roots:
🌉 Pittsburgh: “City of bridges” — the bridge in our logo stands for strength and stability, carrying heavy loads like the financial systems we build.
🌸 Monroe: Lotus blooms on marshlands — a reminder that businesses can thrive even in muddy waters.
🔵🟡 Blue + yellow = trust, clarity, optimism, growth
🔴⚪ Red + white = passion, grit, integrity (plus a nod to my Red Wings hockey love 😉)

So why focus on trades-based businesses?
Because I grew up around people who built with their hands — people pouring sweat into their craft without someone in their corner handling finances.

That’s why Pittroe™ exists — to be the ace up your sleeve, helping flooring pros, painters, and other high achievers find peace of mind in their business.

✅ Always people over profits
✅ Bringing out the best in you by managing the numbers you don’t want to touch

👋 I’m Stephanie, and Pittroe™ is my way of turning real-world lessons into financial systems that actually work.
