Getting married this summer? Congratulations!

Here's one important marriage tip that’s easily overlooked: Talk about money early on.

The first year of marriage is the easiest time to get aligned on the big questions, such as how you'll structure your accounts, how you'll make financial decisions together, and what goals you're working toward as a couple.

Avoiding the topic or waiting until a disagreement forces the conversation makes everything harder than it needs to be. Couples who start from a place of open communication tend to make better financial decisions together and have a lot less conflict getting there.

Start your marriage with clarity and confidence. Schedule your complimentary 60-minute consultation to get aligned on your financial goals together. https://www.attitudefinancialadvisors.com/get-started-now/

Your estate plan probably doesn't account for everything you own.

Crypto holdings, online brokerage accounts, digital business assets, and password-protected financial accounts are easy to overlook when putting together a will or trust. And unlike a physical asset, a digital one nobody knows about or can access is effectively gone.

This is a relatively new blind spot in estate planning, and one that's becoming more relevant as more wealth moves into digital form. If you have digital assets and no clear plan for them, now is a good time to change that.

Curious how this applies to your situation? Book your complimentary 60-minute consultation. https://www.attitudefinancialadvisors.com/get-started-now/

If you're turning 73 this year or approaching that milestone, RMDs from your traditional IRA and 401(k) accounts are no longer optional.

The IRS sets the amount based on your account balance and life expectancy, and the tax bill that comes with it can catch people off guard if they haven't planned for it.

What tends to get overlooked is that the years leading up to your first RMDs are often the best opportunity to reduce the eventual impact. Roth conversions, strategic withdrawals, and charitable giving strategies like qualified charitable distributions can all play a role in managing how much of that money ends up in the IRS's pocket.

The time to think about RMDs is before it’s time to take them.

Behavioral finance has a summer problem.

The same psychological patterns that make it hard to stay consistent with a diet or a workout routine show up in your finances during the warmer months.

Delayed gratification gets harder while present bias gets stronger. The future feels further away when the sun is out and the calendar is full of fun activities.

None of that means you shouldn't enjoy summer but having a financial plan that accounts for human behavior (not just ideal behavior) is what holds up through the whole year.

At Attitude, that's the kind of planning we do. If you want to learn more, be sure to schedule your complimentary 60-minute consultation.

The first year of a baby’s life costs an average of $15,000. So it’s easy to see how new parents can quickly feel overwhelmed by expenses.

To keep your financial plan on track while welcoming a new family member, consider these 4 strategies:

1. Be resourceful with gear: Avoid paying full price for items with short lifespans. Utilize secondhand stores, online marketplaces, and hand-me-downs from friends and family.

2. Prioritize your retirement: While college is important, students have access to loans and scholarships. There is no financial aid for retirement, so continue to fund your future first.

3. Utilize FSAs: Flexible spending accounts allow you to use pre-tax dollars for medical and childcare costs, effectively lowering your overall expenses.

4. Build a safety net: Aim for an emergency fund covering 3–6 months of expenses to guard your family against high-interest debt during unexpected events.

Small adjustments today can lead to significant financial confidence for your family’s future.
