🚨 Is your business getting busier... or becoming more profitable?

As we head into the second half of 2026, many business owners are experiencing strong sales.

But here's a question worth asking:

If revenue continues to grow, will your profit grow with it?

I've seen too many businesses finish the year with record sales—but disappointing cash flow and lower-than-expected profits.

That's why I'm excited to be partnering with Sales Coach Pat Shanahan for a practical, one-hour webinar designed to help business owners finish the year stronger.

đź“… Business Growth Power Hour

Thursday, July 30
12:00–1:00 PM ET
Live on Zoom

During this session, we'll discuss practical strategies to help you:

âś… Generate more revenue through stronger sales strategies
âś… Convert increased revenue into higher profits
âś… Understand the 5 financial numbers every business owner should know
âś… Improve cash flow and make smarter financial decisions before year-end
âś… Build momentum for a strong finish to 2026

This isn't a sales pitch.

It's a practical conversation between a Sales Coach and a CPA who work with business owners every day. You'll leave with ideas you can begin implementing immediately.

If you're serious about finishing 2026 stronger than you started it, we'd love to have you join us.

Most people don't have a tax problem. They have a decision problem that eventually shows up on their tax return.

That's an important distinction because social media has convinced millions of people that tax planning starts with LLCs, S corporations, trusts, and exotic write-offs.

It doesn't.

It starts with making good financial decisions.

Here are three of the biggest tax mistakes I see:

1. Copying someone else's tax strategy.

Just because a wealthy business owner maxes out retirement accounts or elects S corporation status doesn't mean it's the right move for you. Tax strategies only work when they fit your income, cash flow, and long-term goals. Without the right economics, today's tax savings can become tomorrow's penalties and cash-flow problems.

2. Building complicated structures too early.

Some entrepreneurs collect LLCs like they're Pokémon cards. Multiple entities. Trusts. Holding companies. S corporations.

More often than not, they create more tax returns, more compliance, more accounting fees, and more audit exposure, with little or no tax benefit.

Here's the reality: Structure protects wealth. It rarely creates it.

3. Buying investments because of the tax deduction.

If someone leads with: "You'll get a huge tax write-off!"

Your first question shouldn't be: "How much can I deduct?"

It should be: "Can I lose my money?"

A tax deduction doesn't magically transform a bad investment into a good one.

Losing $100 to save $37 in taxes isn't sophisticated planning. It's still losing $63.

The wealthiest taxpayers I've worked with don't chase deductions.

They focus on economics first.
They build profitable businesses.
They invest in opportunities they understand.
Then they optimize the tax consequences.

The tax code generally rewards economic reality, not "clever marketing".

The biggest mistake I see isn't paying too much tax. It's making poor financial decisions in pursuit of paying less tax.

Good economics first. Tax efficiency second.

That's how real tax planning works.

What's the worst "tax strategy" you've seen promoted online?

Your records are only as strong as when they were created. One of the biggest mistakes business owners make is trying to recreate documentation after receiving an IRS audit notice. Unfortunately, that rarely works.

Courts often give little weight to records and explanations prepared after the fact. What carries credibility is documentation created at the time of the transaction.

That's why a reliable accounting system isn't just about keeping your books organized; it's about protecting your tax position.

A strong tax strategy requires:

âś… A complete and accurate general ledger.
âś… Timely documentation supporting deductions and business decisions.
âś… Consistent accounting procedures throughout the year.
✅ Proper implementation—not just good tax ideas.

This becomes even more important if your business:

> Reports recurring losses,
> Claims significant deductions or credits, or
> Takes more sophisticated tax positions.

Tax planning doesn't end with identifying opportunities. It requires ex*****on, documentation, and systems that can withstand IRS scrutiny.

Good tax planning saves taxes. Great tax planning is defensible.
