For that reason, we will have a drop box located just inside our office door for clients to drop off information to complete your 2020 taxes. Please be sure to include your most up-to-date contact information and we will call you with any questions or concerns. We will open the office beginning February 1, 2021.

Even if you don’t itemize, there is a one-time $300 charitable deduction above-the line for 2020.

As the year 2020 is (finally) ending, we wanted to pass along this bit of tax advice. Many people collected unemployment benefits for the first time in 2020. Those benefits are taxable as ordinary income for both Federal and New York State purposes. If you did receive benefits and did not have any taxes withheld, be aware that you may owe (or have a reduced refund) when you file your tax return.
