We had a new client come in yesterday. The person they were using in Sarasota was charging $1900 for their S Corp and personal returns...and that person didn't file the past few years, and has pretty much "ghosted" the client. You shouldn't allow someone you are paying to treat you like that.
Our average rate for S Corps ranges from $350-$650, and personal ranges from $185-$385 (for about 80% of our clients). We know everything and everyone is expensive now, but we continue to remain reasonable. We are like the Arizona Ice Tea of Taxes. We keep our quality high and prices reasonable. We don't use the "inflation" excuse to crank up our fees.
Anyways... if you are extension, your corporate is due in 2 weeks, and your personal one due on October 15th. Don't be late of face high IRS penalties. See less

One tax strategy we rarely hear anyone talk about is the "Tax-Deferral to Tax-Free Income" strategy. A LOT of people don't understand this simple strategy.

Soon a married couple will be able to make about 50K annually and NOT pay any income taxes. So a retired couple could bring in about 50K a year and pay little to NO income taxes (and that doesn't include Social Security income).

Most retirees have no pension (Corporations have sucessfully shifted the retirement burden to the individual worker). So if the retiree doesn't have much taxable income coming in. They sadly won't be able to take full advantage of the viral annual "Fill Up The Tax-Free Bucket Challenge".

So the strategy is to put more into tax-deferred investments such as your 401K, Traditional IRAs, and annuities. While you are working and are most likely in the 22% tax bracket. Shelter...shelter..shelter....then slowly whittle it down in your retirement years.

Imagine getting a conservative fixed safe 6.5% in the future tax free (like you are suppose to do when you are in retirement)? That is the equivalent of getting 8.33% and paying 22% taxes on it, plus you got an instant 22% tax saving when you put the money into your account. Dawn Cash just had a 6.5% 5 year fixed rate last week! It is down to 6.25% now.

Fill up your 401K, do IRAs after if you can, and look at fixed annuities. All 3 can help you achieve great retirement financial success.

6.50% Fixed for Five Years!

WOW!

This is a great rate, but it ends this Monday...then the rates will drop 25 basis points. If we have the application in on Monday you can lock in the rate and you have 60 days to fund your Fixed Annuity. This is an interest only deal where you can take the interest out monthly to create more income for yourself. 100K minimum. Lower rates if less than 100K

Fixed Annuities are like bank CDs, but from an Insurance Company.

Longer terms, better rates, much better features

We feel insurance company are much better capitalized then banks anyways.

So many benefits, and now a very very good rate.

Contact myself or Dawn if you are interested.

You wonder why some tax preparation outfits such as Block, Biberty, and Hewitt charge around $600 for doing relatively simple returns? It is because the IRS has gotten "penalty crazy". They can assess to us tax professionals up to $2600 per tax return if they say we didn't do enough due diligence and the taxpayer got certain credits they were not entitled to. If you do it yourself online...well guess what...you aren't subject to those penalties. We have seen small tax outfits go out of business due to these penalties. We don't want to be one of them so when we ask for documentation to back up your claim to dependents, etc...you know why.

REMINDER: CORPORATIONS, PARTNERSHIPS, ETC....On extension , you have until September 15th to get your return filed...or deal with hefty penalties. Late filing penalties can pretty much shut down a small business. We see penalties for $6000-$12000 for simply filing too late. The higher the penalty the less likelihood the IRS will waive it. The IRS has realized how much more revenue they can collect through penalties now. We won't be asking for waivers like we use to because the IRS has gotten so difficult to deal with. So get filed or just deal with the penalties.

"IRS just sent me a penalty for $6000 for my small business that only made $8500.
I just received a surprise letter in the mail from the IRS saying I owe a $6000 penalty because they didnt receive a k-1 for the two people who are in our partnership. Im very meticulous when doing my taxes and i do our taxes for the business too because its a simple business and we dont make much money. It's possible that i forgot to include the K-1's in the envelope - i don't remember because this was a full year ago now. Either way, a $6000 penalty seems out of this world and unreasonable for what was, at best, an honest clerical error. Our business only reported an ordinary income of $8500 for that year. This penalty would be almost all of the money we made.

I'm very frustrated and confused as to why they didn't simply ask us to send them the K-1's if they didnt receive them right away. Instead, they waited the full twelve months to let the fee accrue before notifying us. Our business obviously can't afford such a penalty fee.

This really seems unjust and unethical to charge a small business this much for a singular missing document that i could have sent them anytime within the last twelve months.

Is there anything I can do? Also, how can the IRS sleep at night knowing they are destroying businesses like this?"

A 20 year plus 401K is probably the single best investment asset one owns now. It use to be the primary home was most people's best financial asset. About 4 decades ago, corporations shifted the retirement savings risks to the employee instead of the employer (who used safe conservative pensions). So all this money keeps flowing into Wall Street (about 8-10% of worker's pay with company match). Wall Street loves it!! Keep buying and buying. Stocks have become the most expensive asset out there, and they keep getting more and more expensive. I guess this could go on forever....but things usually don't. People see their 401K statement, see their home equity...feel rich and spends frivolously. We recommend taking some off the table and going into something more conservative. Especially if you are near or in retirement. Time isn't on your side during retirement. High inflation with potential risks to your savings could be devasting to one's retirement. Contact us if you want to know what options are available. In the meantime...a good video to watch.

Tax Information!

Hello Everyone. I hope you are enjoying your summer. I just wanted to provide some information to our clients.

If you are on extension...businesses are due in a month. Deadline for business returns is 9-15. IRS is getting very strict with late penalties, and not waiving them. Late penalties can be around $500/mo. Personal return are due October 15th. Late penalty on personal returns are 5%/mo. of what is owed.

We usually tell clients not to worry too much about estimated tax payments, but now the IRS interest rate is around 7%. You may want to send in one or just pay the underpayment penalty at tax time.

Easiest way is to set up your IRS account with the IRS. IRS.GOV. We highly recommend EVERYONE set up their account. You can access information, documents, payments, etc. It seems a lot of tax forms are not being mailed out anymore, so you can easily miss some income that was reported to the IRS. With your IRS account you can simply get a transcript of all income that was reported to you. Then provide it to us at tax preparation time, along with your other forms.

Tax witholdings on payroll has been getting less and less. Years ago Fed Withholding were around 10%, now they seem to be around 4%. The government wanted to give workers money in their paychecks so they would spend it faster. However at tax time...is when you notice the big difference (and we are the ones breaking the bad news). So check your payroll and adjust your W4 (there is a line for "extra withholdings"), and have your employer withhold more.

Speaking of payroll. Anyone doing payroll should call ANNA from ADP. She is terrific and our business clients enjoy working with her. We never recommend doing payroll yourself. So many little things can go wrong, and the IRS arm of payroll can be much more nastier to deal with. They will come to your door, and put you in jail for not submitting payments. Anna's email is [email protected]. Let her know we sent you because we do get a small residual from ADP.

Many of our clients like to work remotely with us. We use Taxdome as a secure portal to work remote. However it also is a great place to store your tax documents and tax returns so you have instant access to it. If you would like to save some trees, we can send your future tax returns to your Taxdome account. We recommend setting up your account simply by clicking the link below.

Dawn's best Fixed Annuity Rates are 5.85% for 5 years Fixed. Her indexed rates (interest is tied to stock market performance) are around 9-10%. My wife is doing annuities as I focus more on taxes and other investments

And we thank you for all your referrals. Nextdoor, Facebook, etc. We really do appreciated it. We hear horror stories from other places and how they treat their clients. Price gouging, and simply not responding to client's needs or questions.

We look out for our clients. We don't like to see anyone being taken advantage of. There are so many scammers out there now. You have to be very diligent.

Everything is expensive now...especially people. So be careful who you hire, and ask me questions anytime. I can respond to my emails quickly during the offseason.

Thanks you once again on being a valued client!

Just saying "Hello" to our clients!

We hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far. Please storms stay far away from us this year.

We did over 300 Casualty Losses from IAN in the past few years and only had one audit (which passed with no issues). We were very happy with the results and many of our clients got back nice refunds to help offset their losses.

This year the IRS seems to be messing up with payments that have been made to them. Hopefully they get this issue resolved soon.

Watch out for Scams. Scammers are relentless. Be very cautious and always contact us if you are not sure about something. We are here for you, and we don't want any of our clients being taken advantage of.

Upcoming tax season...we can take up to 1K additional per person for charitable contributions. Keep that in mind when giving. Get the receipts for your records. Sadly....no more energy tax credits.

If you are on extension, businesses are due 9-15, and personal is due 10-15. Don't be late. IRS seems to be falling in love with penalties now, and late filing penalties can add up real fast.

Dawn is getting new carriers for insurance. Rates seem to be improving for homes and auto. Give Dawn or Jen a call at 941-235-2474 for a quote.

Our fixed annuity rates are starting to rise. Our best one is 5.8% for 5 years. I think we could be seeing 6% or more VERY soon. If that happens you need to seriously consider the benefits they offer. Wall Street has been in the driver seat for most of your life (and it has worked very well), but...maybe it is time you put yourself in the driver seat. Wall Street can still be a passenger, but you do not need any recklessness driving. You need to control your destination during your retirement, because time now....isn't on our side!

With their features we feel everyone over the age of 50 should have an Athene fixed annuity as part of their retirement program. It is a great vehicle to have as part of your fleet.

Follow us on Facebook to get more up to date information about taxes and financial matters.

Once again, thanks for being a valued client. We really appreciate you!! Call or email me if you have any questions

Treasury bond yields climbing once again. Going to cost the government more to borrow. It is a shame we have to borrow a ton of money just to pay our bills. Where else are we going to get the money to stay afloat?? Can't get it from the wealthy, can't cut social programs...so we print and borrow. We could see an environment where the government has to pay well over 7...8% to make the bonds attractive (like in the 70s when it was over 14%). Think what that would do to the stock market. Anyways.....fixed annuities rates should start increasing. We may be seeing fixed 6+% again. Stay tuned.....

U.S. Treasury yields climbed on Wednesday, following oil prices higher, as traders also reacted to a slump in weekly claims for unemployment insurance.
