Meet AJ Vanderpool, owner and technician. AJ brings years of experience in the HVAC/R industry and a passion for doing things the right way—whether it’s keeping a commercial system running, tackling an industrial project, or helping a homeowner with their heating and cooling needs.

After years in the trade, AJ decided to take the next step and build a business centered around quality workmanship, honest service, and treating every customer like a neighbor.

When he’s not working, you’ll usually find him spending time with his family or working on one of the many projects that come with owning a home 😄

We’re incredibly excited for what’s ahead and grateful for everyone who has supported VMS as we get this business off the ground!

When we get summer cancellations for our farm stay, they are harder to re-book and here we are this summer with some big-block cancellations.

The Cottage is now available 7/12-17 and 8/2-6. The Farm House is available 7/13-15 and 7/17-24. If you book and then call the farm or email me with a mention of this post I will honor 2024 pricing and discount the difference.

It’s peaceful and quiet out here and the mulberry tree is loaded, the goat kids ready to play, and the sheep lazy on the fields.

Yesterday was a doozy of a day, let me tell you. (Long story warning, but you should definitely read until the end! ) We spent the day in Independence starting early in the morning to help our friends set up for the evening fireworks. Then we went to watch the parade. After the jet flew directly overhead, poor CJ said that next year she would like her anxiety meds well before the parade. Back to the fireworks staging area for more set up, food, and hanging out until evening. I drove CJ a couple miles away so I could still watch the fireworks, but I could drown out the majority of the noise listening to some rock music on the radio. Tear down after the fireworks took well into the early morning hours; CJ continued to listen to her rock station as there were still of lot of mortars being lit off by townspeople. Near the end of the night, I went to use the outhouse. I turned on the flashlight feature and went to set it on the little ledge for light. Of course I didn't get it balanced just right and it fell into the drink! Luckily we were able to fish it out with a stick and a rake. Brought it home, rinsed it off, disinfected it, and let it dry overnight. Good news - it still works!!!! Turns out it is actually waterproof as they claim. More importantly, there does not seem to be any lingering odors from the experience.

Bookkeeping isn't just about numbers; it's also about teamwork......

Now let's switch gears for a moment and talk show jumping. My first show jumper was very much point and shoot. She was fun and easy, like straightforward bookkeeping. My second show jumper required a lot more work and skill; in fact, I had to seek help from a professional trainer. She was more like playing catch up or cleaning up messy bookkeeping, challenging and yet so rewarding. Regardless of the horse, if we aren't working together as a team, we won't win any competitions.
