I'm not talking about your salary. I'm saying if something happened to you tomorrow, would your wife and kids have to change their lives? Would they have to leave their home? Would you have to pull your kids from the activities they're doing?

I know I don't want that for them. That's why I've secured life insurance for my family. I didn't do it out of fear. I did it out of wanting peace of mind, knowing I've taken care of my family.

Have you taken care of yours?

Most people don't skip life insurance because they've decided against it. They just assume there will be time to deal with it later.

That's a normal way to think. It's also the reason so many policies never get updated, or never get started at all.

Later isn't a plan. It's just a delay with good intentions.

Let's put a real date on the calendar. Book a call this week.

Had a breakfast meeting this morning with a business owner who's getting ready to sell his business to his two sons.

His business is his retirement plan. He had everything lined up and worked out, except for one thing. He hadn't funded any of it with life insurance.

His sons need to buy a life insurance policy on him. If something happened, they could still purchase the business from his wife, and she'd realize the retirement he always wanted for her.

And he should buy insurance on his sons too. Heaven forbid something happened to one of them, he could still receive the value of the business he was expecting them to pay him in retirement.

September is Life Insurance Awareness Month. If you're a business owner and your business is your retirement plan, reach out and let's talk about how to protect it.

By the time Life Insurance Awareness Month wraps up, most of the messaging around it fades until next September.

The people it's actually for don't go anywhere.

A spouse. Kids. A business partner. Whoever depends on what you're building, whether they think about it often or not.

That's really what the review is for. Not the policy itself, but the people standing behind it.

Please join us in welcoming Kaleigh Anglim to the TFG team! Kaleigh joined us on August 4, 2026, and serves as our Client Success Coordinator. In her role, she works closely with our advisors and operations team to help ensure each client is taken care of efficiently and receives the support they need.

But there's more to Kaleigh than her work at Thompson Financial Group. Growing up, she dreamed of becoming a famous actress and singer on Broadway. It wasn't until her junior year of high school that she decided the Broadway life might be a little too scary. These days, she still loves to sing, just from the comfort of her piano at home or alongside a church group.

If Kaleigh could have dinner with anyone famous, living or dead, she would choose Abbie Gamboa, whose music and heart for Jesus she greatly admires. Kaleigh says Abbie's incredible talent and kind spirit make her someone she would love to spend an evening getting to know.

After a long day, Kaleigh's ideal way to unwind is pretty cozy: a 2 to 3 mile walk around downtown Nashville, followed by a hot shower, popcorn, and a movie under her favorite fuzzy blanket. And if her baby nephew happens to be part of the evening, even better.

We're excited to have Kaleigh as part of the team and look forward to getting to know her even better as she settles into her new role. Welcome to TFG, Kaleigh!

Most preparedness planning happens for things you can see coming. A storm. A job change. A move across town.

Less often for the ones you can't. Life insurance isn't really about the event itself. It's about the people who are still standing afterward, and whether the plan around them holds.

That's worth more than a passing thought.

September carries two reminders that rarely get said in the same breath. It's Life Insurance Awareness Month and National Preparedness Month, and the overlap isn't an accident.

Most preparedness conversations focus on what's visible: a kit, an evacuation route, a plan for the next few days. Fewer include the policy that's been sitting untouched since the year it was purchased.

A real plan accounts for what happens if you're not there to see it through. That's not a comfortable thought, but it's a useful one.

If it's been a while since you looked at your coverage, this is a natural week to do it.

This week brought another round of headlines. Rate hike odds shifting, yields climbing, oil prices up again. It's tempting to feel like all of it demands something from you personally.

Most of it doesn't. A plan built around your actual goals doesn't need to move every time a headline does.

Staying grounded isn't the same as ignoring what's happening. It just means you already know why you're positioned the way you are.

Markets have been loud this week. Rate expectations shifting, yields climbing, energy prices rising again. It's the kind of environment that pulls your focus toward what's happening right now.

But a financial plan is built for the years you're actively managing it. A legacy plan is built for after you're not.

Most people have thought carefully about the first. Fewer have taken real time on the second, who receives what, how it's structured, and what it actually communicates about what mattered to you.

If it's been a while since you've looked at how your wealth is set up to transfer, not just grow, that's worth a real conversation. Book a time with our team and let's look at it together.

It's easy to let a long weekend blur into a slower week. Inboxes catch up first, routines catch up second, and financial check-ins usually land somewhere near the bottom of that list.

That's normal. It's also worth noticing.

A plan doesn't need constant attention, but it does need occasional attention. If it's been a while since you actually looked at where things stand, this week is as good a time as any.
