📢 Important Tax Changes – OBBBA Law (2025–2026)
Here’s what you need to know to better plan your taxes 👇
👶 Adoption Tax Credit – Now Partially Refundable
The OBBBA did not increase the federal Adoption Tax Credit, but it did make it partially refundable.
✅ Maximum credit for 2025: $17,280
(Up from $16,810 in 2024 due to inflation adjustment)
💰 Key new benefit:
Up to $5,000 may be refundable, even if you owe little or no federal income tax.
📌 Example:
If you adopt an eligible child in 2025 and, after deductions, you only owe $1,000 in taxes:
• The IRS may refund you $4,000
• The remaining credit ($12,280) is nonrefundable but can be used to offset future taxes under existing rules.
👨👩👧👦 This change especially benefits low- and middle-income families who typically owe little or no federal income tax.
🚗 New Auto Loan Interest Deduction
