Private credit has attracted more commentary than clarity this year.

The concerns are real. AI disruption to software lending, pressure on semi-liquid structures, heightened media scrutiny. We don't dismiss them. But the data, spanning twenty years, tells a more measured story. When public markets had a negative quarter, private credit continued to generate positive returns. Consistently.

The current market is pricing publicly-traded BDCs at roughly a 20% discount to NAV, implying a near-complete write-off of software lending exposure. In our view, that overstates the risk considerably.
