Claiming a Dependent on Your Taxes? Why You May NOT Get the Same

🚨 Swapping dependents does NOT mean swapping tax refunds!

Just because another parent claimed a child last year and received certain tax benefits doesn’t mean you’ll receive the same credits or the same refund when it’s your turn to claim that child.

Your tax results can depend on several factors, including:

* Your income
* Filing status
* The child’s age and eligibility
* Residency and qualifying-child rules
* Changes in your circumstances
* The specific tax credit involved

And here’s an important distinction: being allowed to claim a child as a dependent doesn’t automatically mean every child-related tax benefit transfers with that child. Different credits and filing benefits can have different eligibility rules.

So before you start counting somebody else’s refund money in your pocket… run YOUR numbers. 😂💰

📌 Tax situations are individual. What worked on someone else’s return may not produce the same result on yours.

Tell me who the f**k you wanna be.

Now visualize her.
See her clearly.
Move like her.
Make decisions like her.
And keep going until your reality catches up with what you already saw in your mind.

You don’t have to stay who you were yesterday.

You can reinvent yourself.
Rebuild yourself.
Change careers.
Start the business.
Learn the skill.
Take the risk.
Start over at 25, 35, 45, 55… whenever.

✨ See it.
✨ Believe it.
✨ Work for it.
✨ Become it.

Manifest that s**t — then put the WORK behind the manifestation. 💅🏾

Because sometimes the life you keep seeing in your head is just waiting for you to become the version of yourself who can live it.

So… who the f**k do YOU wanna be? 👀

🚨 BIG TAX REFUND DOESN’T MEAN YOUR TAX RETURN IS CORRECT

Got a big refund? The IRS accepted your return? The money hit your account?

That does NOT automatically mean everything on that return was accurate.

A return can be accepted and questions can still come later. If the IRS asks you to substantiate income, dependents, credits, deductions, or business expenses, you need to be able to show the documentation that supports what was reported.

💰 A big refund is not the goal. An accurate, defensible tax return is.

Don’t let somebody inflate your refund today and leave YOU dealing with the consequences later.

CEO Mode Doesn’t Clock Out. 💼✨

Business doesn’t always happen behind a desk.

Sometimes it’s a laptop in a lounge. A conversation over drinks. An idea that hits when you’re supposed to be relaxing. 😂

I’m learning that building something of your own isn’t about being “on” 24/7—it’s about staying ready when opportunity shows up.

I can enjoy the moment and still think bigger.
I can rest and still have a vision.
I can live my life and build the life I want at the same time.

Because leisure looks a little different when you’re building a legacy. 💼🥂

Business never stops. Even when it’s leisure.

Follow along—I’m building, learning, pivoting, and taking y’all with me. 💋

DO I HAVE TO REPORT CASH INCOME IF I DIDN’T GET A 1099? 💵 | TAX TIPS

Getting paid in cash does NOT automatically make that income tax-free. 👀

If you earned money from side work, self-employment, a small business, beauty services, gig work, or other taxable work, not receiving a 1099 does not by itself mean the income doesn’t have to be reported.

💵 Cash payments can still be taxable income.
🧾 No 1099 doesn’t automatically mean no reporting requirement.
📊 Keeping accurate records of your income and business expenses matters.

Don’t let a missing tax form turn into a tax problem later.

Follow Avalon Tax & Financial Services for more tax tips that help you understand what actually needs to go on your return.

TITLE / HOOK:
Tax Preparers: Due Diligence Means ASK QUESTIONS! 🚨

Tax preparers, clicking a few boxes in your software is NOT the same thing as doing your due diligence. 🧾🔍

When a client is claiming certain tax credits, dependents, filing statuses, or other tax benefits, you need to ask the right questions, review the information provided, and address anything that appears incorrect, inconsistent, or incomplete.

If something isn’t adding up — ASK QUESTIONS. 👀

Your responsibility as a tax professional is to prepare an accurate return and meet your tax preparer due diligence requirements.

Because listen… I’m trying to build a tax business, NOT a prison résumé. 😂 I’m too pretty to go to prison.

Giving Up Is NOT an Option. Period. 💅🏽✨

I’ve had moments where I was tired. Frustrated. Discouraged. Wondering when all the work I’ve been putting in was finally going to PAY OFF.

But quitting? Nah. That’s not how this story ends.

I’ve come too far, learned too much, built too much, and have way too much ahead of me to stop now.

Sometimes the breakthrough doesn’t come when you want it to. Sometimes you have to keep showing up while the results are still catching up to the work.

So I’m staying in motion. 💛

Same woman. Bigger vision. Higher goals.

And if you needed this reminder today too: KEEP GOING. You got this. 👑
