Ever heard of "phantom" energy? 👻 It's what your electronics use even when they're turned off.
Yep, if your chargers, gaming consoles, or coffee maker are plugged in but not in use, they're still quietly racking up energy costs. I've started unplugging what I'm not actively using, and it's made me way more aware of my energy habits.

As a bonus, it also reduces fire hazards.
This hidden energy drain can account for 5–10% of your total electricity bill—or an average $100–$200 per year, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

How to Cut Down Phantom Energy:
• Unplug devices when not in use
• Use smart power strips that automatically cut power when devices go idle
• Group electronics by use (e.g., entertainment center) and switch them off together
• Enable energy-saving modes on devices when available

We learned something new on this one!

This summer has been HOT—and if your energy bill made your jaw drop, you're not alone.

One of the biggest game changers when it comes to lowering your energy bill? A programmable thermostat. Just setting it a few degrees higher when I'm not home has noticeably trimmed my bill.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a good general rule is to adjust your thermostat by 7 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit from your normal setting for 8 hours a day to save up to 10% a year on energy costs. Anything more than that can actually be counterproductive because it makes your system work harder to catch up.

Have you made any energy-saving changes at home? Let's swap tips—we can all use the savings!

In most situations, a programmable thermostat can save you money without sacrificing comfort.

There's a moment many people experience at some point in their lives.

You're booking a flight. You scroll past the standard seat… and pause at first class.

Not because you have to upgrade.
Not because you're trying to impress anyone.
But because you've worked hard, and you're wondering when you're allowed to start enjoying the perks.

Milestones can shift the way we think about money.
A career high. An empty nest. A major life win. Retirement on the horizon.

Financial discipline matters. So does lifestyle.

The goal isn't reckless spending—and it isn't endless accumulation, either. It's aligning your resources with the life you actually want to live.

Sometimes that means staying in your seat.
Sometimes it means stretching out a little.

If you're navigating what "enjoying the journey" looks like in your own life, we'd be happy to talk it through with you. ✈️
