Why would someone ever run 50-miles?
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to pace my twin brother Patrick for the final 15 miles of his 50-mile race.
By that point, the months training was already done. The strategy was set. The hard work had already been invested.
What remained was ex*****on.
As we made our way toward the finish line, I couldn't help but think about how closely the experience mirrors long-term financial success:
âś… Big goals require preparation long before results are visible.
âś… Progress is rarely linear.
âś… There will be setbacks, discomfort, and moments when quitting feels easier than continuing.
âś… Having someone alongside you can help you stay focused on the bigger picture.
In both running and financial planning, success isn't about being perfect. It's about remaining committed to the process and staying disciplined throughout, especially when the journey gets difficult.
The finish line is earned through thousands of small decisions that nobody sees.
I'm so proud of my brother for completing an incredible 50-mile race around CA Lake, and grateful for the opportunity to be part of those final miles.
A powerful reminder that in life, as in finance, endurance often matters more than speed.
I might have to run the full 50-miles next time with you...
