Our hearts are with the team at Lux Bar and everyone impacted by this week's fire.

For years, Lux has been more than just a neighborhood bar.. Lux has been a gathering place where friendships are made, local artists are celebrated, and our community comes together. We're relieved to hear no one was injured, and we're especially grateful for the quick response from the Rochester Fire Department that helped prevent further damage.

As Lux begins the road to rebuilding, we want to send our support and encouragement to everyone impacted, and most importantly to everyone who calls this special place home. Rochester has always shown up for its local businesses, and we know this community will do it again.

We're wishing the entire Lux family strength, healing, and a smooth recovery. We can't wait to see your doors open again. ❤️

Abundance Food Co-op is incredibly grateful to be a Genesee Co-op Federal Credit Union grant recipient. These funds will help support our mission of making healthy, wholesome, and responsibly sourced items accessible to everyone.

The credit union and food co-op have HISTORY together. Genesee Coop Federal Credit Union was founded in the same building as the Genesee Co-op Food Store which eventually evolved into the Abundance Food Co-op you know today.

🎨Meet Evelyn, a talented Rochester-born artist and Genesee Co-op member! Evelyn holds an M.F.A. in Computer Animation from RIT and a B.F.A. in Fine Art Printmaking from Pratt Institute. Her work has been featured in galleries and art spaces throughout Rochester, including Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Link Gallery at City Hall, The Artists Cave, and the Memorial Art Gallery.

In honor of Juneteenth we want to honor and share the long history in the United States of black economic freedom and independence movements. This discussion with Jessica Gordon Nembhard and The Next System Project from 2015 talks about this history and particularly the importance of W.E.B. Du Bois and Fannie Lou Hamer in this movement.

We are so happy to support Create A Pizza with a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York. We can all feel the cost of price increases across the economy—including restaurants. Even so Create A Pizza’s owners Katelyn and John have made it a priority to continue their affordable $6.99 weekday lunch special for a personal pizza and a drink. Yum!

For the last few years the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York has enabled members like us to support nonprofits and small businesses that are struggling with increases prices, costs, or other economic issues (who isn't?!) with the Small Business Recovery Grant program.

We were delighted to be able to support the Bantu Community of Rochester which engages youth from the Bantu Wazigua community. The Somali community is an important part of the Rochester community and the Genesee Co-op community.
