Saying yes changed my life.

Everyone talks about learning to say no.

And sure, no is important at times, but learning when to say yes matters just as much.

Saying yes to the right opportunities is a huge part of what got me where I am today.

Like saying yes to taking the leap and starting my own firm.

My life would look completely different if I had let fear make that decision for me.

Sometimes growth looks like saying yes to:
Challenges
Leveling up
Uncomfortable situations
Big opportunities

And often, those uncomfortable moments become the turning points.

What’s something you need to start saying yes to?

Delegation is learned.

Delegation is not a personality trait.

It’s a skill.

You aren’t bad at letting go.

You just haven’t built systems that make letting go feel safe yet.
Here’s how to start:

Pick one task you do every single week that someone else could handle.

Then:
Document the process
Create clear instructions
Assign it to someone you trust
Let them take ownership

Start small.

The more you delegate successfully, the easier it becomes.

You do not have to do everything yourself to be a great business owner.

What’s one thing you could delegate this week?

Summer is tax-planning season.

Busy season is over. Extension work is underway.

Now is the perfect time for:
Mid-year projections
Entity structure reviews
Retirement contribution planning
Estimated tax reviews before the September deadline

Don’t let July and August slip by without using them strategically.

The business owners who plan now are the ones who avoid surprises later.

What’s changed in your business since January that could impact your taxes?

Your circle matters.

The people around you will either expand your idea of what’s possible…

…or quietly keep you playing small.

And most people don’t even realize it’s happening.

Usually, it’s not intentional.

It’s simply proximity.

So what can you do?

This isn’t about cutting people off.

It’s about being intentional about who you seek advice from when making business decisions.

Make sure the people around you are:
Supporting you
Challenging you
Encouraging your growth
Helping you get where you want to go

Your environment matters more than you think, and when you think of your environment, this includes people you know in real life and online.

Does your circle push you forward or hold you back?

Inherited an IRA?

There’s something you need to know:

Many inherited IRAs now come with a 10-year clock under the SECURE Act.

What does that mean?

You can’t just let the money sit there indefinitely.

You need a plan for when and how you withdraw the funds.

If you do it wrong, you could unnecessarily push yourself into a much higher tax bracket year after year.

Tax planning matters here.

A lot.

Have you reviewed how an inherited IRA could impact your tax situation?

The W-4 redesign that happened in 2020 made withholding a lot more confusing, and most people don’t even realize it.

If you’re married, have multiple income sources, or receive bonuses, your withholding is more likely to be off than you think.

And that’s how people end up with either a big bill… or a big refund.

Neither is ideal.

So what’s a simple way to avoid underpaying?

A more conservative approach is selecting single with no adjustments.

Even if you’re married.

It’s not perfect, but it can help reduce the risk of owing at year-end.

When’s the last time you reviewed your W-4?

If you’re an accountant, what are you advising clients to do when it comes to their withholding?

Are we really to believe the company that shall not be named is rebranding and paying all these accounting influencers to preach they are our partner while still actively raising prices (we’re not talking little increases, we’re talking crazy increase year over year) and actively trying to steal clients from us?

I don’t think it’s a threat to me, but I just can’t get behind all the people getting paid to preach about these new programs.

Sorry not sorry. It feels like they just care about the stock prices, not our profession.

I love conferences.

The connections.
The conversations.
The fresh ideas.

Especially after busy season, it’s energizing to be in a room with people who get it.

What’s been your favorite conference so far this year?

Drop it below! I’m always looking for new ones to add to my list.

Bonus season is coming.

Here’s what most people don’t realize:

Bonuses are typically withheld at 22%.

But if your actual tax bracket is higher than that, which is very common, you’ll owe the difference.

That difference can lead to a surprise tax bill in April.

Pro tip: Estimate the difference and make an additional payment based on your bonus.

A little planning now saves a big headache later.

Big Refund ≠ Win

A $20k refund means you gave the IRS a $20k interest-free loan for the year.

You didn’t “make” money. You just got your own money back.

And most people don’t realize it.

The goal isn’t to get a big refund.

It’s to get that number as close to zero as possible, intentionally.

That comes down to:
Adjusting your withholding or estimates
Planning around when income hits or changes
Actually having a tax strategy in place that you review throughout the year
