80% of women and 35% of men in the U.S. will one day require some form of long-term care (home health aide, assisted living facility, etc.). Detailed care of this nature can quickly deplete savings/assets intended for a comfortable retirement, love ones, etc.

To meet this challenge NY Life has recently released Asset Flex, a hybrid LTC strategy coupled with a whole life coverage plan. The long-term care component value grows over time and if never used, becomes a whole life insurance policy, which will also grow in death benefit value. There are several ways to fund this type of policy and myself and NY Life can find one that works best.

Attached is more info on our newest LTC offering, Asset Flex.

Whole Life Coverage as part of an investment/retirement strategy?

While a whole life policy provides protection for loved ones, its value as a part of a larger investment/retirement strategy mustn't be overlooked.

The cash value of a whole life policy (and the death benefit) grows over time and, unlike a qualified (401K) retirement plan, that cash value is tax free at the time of withdrawal.

One suggestion I always make with folks whom have a 401K but not adequate life insurance is take a look at your 401K. Are you making contributions to this plan that exceeds what your employer matches? If so, why not consider a diversification strategy involving whole life? Maybe think about taking the over-contribution amount, move it to a whole life plan and watch the tax free cash value grow while providing protection for your family in the event of the unforeseen?

After retirement age is reached, if/when a withdrawal from a whole life policy is made, say $10K, the net amount received is $10K, unlike a withdrawal from a 401K, which would be subject to a tax hit (20%, 30%, etc.).

Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss further and Happy Friday!
