Tax Credit vs. Tax Deduction — What’s the Difference? 🤔

🟡 Tax Credit = Dollar-for-Dollar Savings
A tax credit directly reduces what you owe.
➡️ Owe $1,000 in taxes + get a $500 credit = You now owe $500
💥 Examples: Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Credit, Education Credits

🟢 Tax Deduction = Lowers Your Taxable Income
A deduction reduces the income that gets taxed.
➡️ Earned $50,000 + claim a $5,000 deduction = You’re only taxed on $45,000
💥 Examples: Standard Deduction, Charitable Donations, Student Loan Interest

✅ Credits save you more than deductions.
✅ Use both if you qualify!

🚗💨 Are You an Uber, Lyft, or DoorDash Driver? Don’t Leave Money on the Table at Tax Time!

Here are 5 easy ways to maximize your tax deductions as a rideshare or delivery driver:

✅ Track Every Mile – Every trip counts! Use a mileage app or logbook.
✅ Deduct Vehicle Expenses – Choose the standard mileage rate or actual costs like gas, repairs & insurance.
✅ Write Off Your Phone – A portion of your phone bill, data, and work apps are deductible.
✅ Deduct Driver Supplies – Chargers, phone mounts, seat covers, bottled water & more add up!
✅ Save Your Receipts – Receipts = proof = bigger deductions.

💰 These simple tips can help lower your tax bill and keep more money in your pocket!

📉 Got a lower refund or owed taxes this year because of Marketplace health insurance?

You’re not alone — and here’s what to do to avoid the same surprise next year:

✅ Not using your Marketplace coverage? Cancel it ASAP.
✅ Still using it? Log in and update your income to make sure your subsidy is accurate.

When your reported income doesn’t match what you actually earn, you may have to pay back part of your premium credit — which can shrink your refund or cause you to owe.

Stay ahead of the game and avoid the same tax-time stress next year. Need help reviewing your

📬 Last Call: Don’t Miss Your 2021 Tax Refund!

The deadline to claim your 2021 tax refund is April 15, 2025. After that, the IRS keeps your money. 😬

📅 Reminder: April 15 is the due date for the 1st estimated tax payment!

💸 Who usually pays estimated taxes?

Estimated taxes are typically paid by people who don’t have taxes automatically withheld from their income, such as:

✅ Self-employed individuals
✅ Freelancers, gig workers, and contractors
✅ Small business owners
✅ Landlords with rental income
✅ Investors earning dividends, capital gains, or interest
✅ Anyone who owed taxes last year and expects to owe again

🔁 Estimated taxes are paid quarterly (4 times a year) to cover income that isn’t subject to withholding.
