The economy continues to send some mixed signals—but there are plenty of positives beneath the headlines.

Corporate profits are up, consumer spending remains resilient, and markets finished the week higher. At the same time, inflation remains above the Fed’s target, keeping interest rates in focus.

Here’s a quick look at what happened last week and what we’re watching next. 👇

Interest rates, inflation, and economic growth continue to drive the conversation in the markets.

This week’s Market View Weekly from Osaic's asset management team looks at what we learned from the latest Fed meeting minutes, why Treasury yields moved higher, and some encouraging signs from the Leading Economic Index.

Looking ahead, GDP and PCE inflation data will be important indicators to watch as investors consider what may be next for the economy and interest rates.

Anyone else feeling the financial impact of back-to-school season? 🙋‍♀️

School supplies, new shoes, activity fees, sports, lunches…the beginning of a new school year is always a good reminder of just how expensive raising kids can be.

It’s also a reminder that some of the biggest expenses may still be ahead.

One of the questions we get asked often by parents and grandparents is: “What’s the best way to save for my kids or grandkids?”

There isn’t one answer that works for everyone. A 529 plan may make sense for education. A custodial Roth IRA can be a great option once a child has earned income. A brokerage account provides more flexibility. And now, Trump Accounts give families another option to consider.

In Erin's latest article, “Saving for Their Future: 4 Ways to Invest in a Child’s Financial Future,” she breaks down all four and explains when each one might make sense.

If back-to-school season has you thinking about your child’s future beyond this school year, we hope you’ll give it a read!

🎓 College teaches a lot of lessons—but some of the most important ones won’t be on the syllabus.

For students heading off to college, this is often the first time they’re managing more of their own financial life. A few lessons worth learning early:

💳 A credit card isn’t extra money. Building credit can be valuable, but only if you understand what you’re spending and can pay it back.

💰 Learn to live within a budget. You don’t need a complicated spreadsheet. Just know how much money you have coming in, what has to go out, and what’s left for everything else.

🍕 Small purchases add up. The coffee, DoorDash orders, late-night food runs and subscriptions may not seem like much individually—but they’re a great way to learn how quickly spending can accumulate.

🏦 Start saving something. Even $10 or $20 at a time helps build the habit. At this stage, developing the habit can be more important than the amount.

📈 Time is your greatest financial advantage. You may not have much money to invest yet, but you have something incredibly valuable: decades ahead of you for your money to grow.

Parents, as you’re helping with dorm supplies, textbooks and everything else on the college checklist, consider adding a few conversations about money to the list too.

The goal isn’t for them to have it all figured out. It’s to give them a strong financial foundation—and plenty of room to learn along the way. 🎓

What a great evening at the Rock Island Bridge! 🥂🎶

It may have been a warm one, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying good food, cold cocktails, live music, and—most importantly—great company.

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us! Getting to spend time with our clients outside of the office, catching up and simply enjoying the evening together, is always one of our favorite things.

Thank you for making it such a fun night! ❤️

☀️ How is summer already almost over?

It feels like we were just kicking off summer, and suddenly the school supplies are out, schedules are filling back up, and fall is right around the corner.

Hopefully you found some time this summer to slow down, make a few memories, take a trip, spend time with people you love—or simply enjoy a little extra sunshine.

There’s something about the end of summer that always feels like a reset. New routines, new goals, and a chance to refocus on what we want the rest of the year to look like.

Here’s to soaking up these last few weeks of summer and heading into fall feeling refreshed and ready for what’s next. ☀️🍂

What was the highlight of your summer?
