Smith and Company was founded in the 1950's by Robert F. The firm was known as Smith and Gravely until the mid 1970's and then became known as Smith and Company. Smith ran the company until his retirement in 1991 when he turned over the reins of the business to his son, Richard M. Smith, CPA
At Smith & Company we have always taken pride in our services and utilizing the best techno
logy to provide the greatest service possible. In the 1970's we used punch tape machines. In 1980 we purchased our first pair of computers. In the 1990's we were networked. In the 2000's we began E-filing and E-mailing as well as going paperless. In the last few years we began cloud computing which allows us to have complete off site program and data security. Throughout the years the most important resource has been our staff. We have a combined 30 years of Tax Preparation and Accounting experience. This experience is crucial in knowing how to interpret the ever changing and complex tax code. Combining that experience with a desire to provide the best service possible has always been and will always be our goal. We are open year round and are located at 220 Roanoke Boulevard in Salem, VA.
