Austin Francis Salisbury native offering retirement and investment planning through Commercial Trust Financial Services. Hi, I’m Austin Francis. Member FINRA/SIPC.

Serving the surrounding area with honest, local advice you can count on. I'm a Salisbury MO native and financial advisor with Commercial Trust Financial Services. I help individuals and families feel confident about their financial future. Whether you’re planning for retirement, navigating a career transition, or just getting started, I’m here to offer clear, honest guidance that fits your goals.

Before becoming a financial advisor, I worked in the mortgage industry helping Veterans buy their first homes. That experience taught me the value of building trust and providing real solutions, not just selling products. Now, I work with people from all walks of life to help them invest wisely, protect what matters, and retire with peace of mind. If you're looking for a local advisor who will treat you like a neighbor, I’d be honored to help. The question as to take the 12, 24, or 36 month option for the PLSO all does the same thing to your monthly pension. It is a linear reduction to how much you could receive monthly.

The older you are when you retire from teaching, the larger the percentage increase from your monthly pension.

Said simply, it makes more mathematical sense to take the PLSO if you are retiring at a younger age. If you are retiring from teaching in your 70s the math becomes harder to work out. Unless you simply do not need the monthly amount right now.

You might already be eligible for PLSO and not know it.

There are exactly three ways to become eligible for a Partial Lump Sum Option through PSRS. You only need one of them.

→ Age 63, with at least 8 years of service
→ 33 years of service, at any age
→ The Rule of 86. which is your age plus your years of service adding up to 86 or more

That first one is the one that most people don't understand. I come across many teachers who actually started teaching later in life after an earlier career. The PLSO makes a lot of sense for them, but they assume they must meet the rule of 86.

Your years of service are sitting in your PSRS account online. Takes about two minutes to look up. Once you know your numbers, message me if you'd like to talk through what it means.

To every Missouri teacher heading back this week, good luck!

And if this is your last first day, here's something worth knowing early: most PSRS members retire July 1, which means the real decisions land in January and February, not next summer.

We are here whenever you want to talk about your retirement decisions.

Most teacher's are familiar with the rule of 80. That is full retirement, but the rule of 86 unlocks a choice for teachers. And it is one of the most important choices they will make with their retirement.

Lately I have been helping a lot of teachers across the state of Missouri. I feel that I need to create content that can be accessible to answer questions easily.

There are so many questions in regards to PSRS and the PLSO that face Missouri teachers. I am going to try and create a few short videos that help explain what it is, simply, so that you can help make your decision once you get to retirement.

There is no one size fits all approach, every situation is unique, and everyone deserves a resource to help them make the correct decision. If you have any questions, I am always available to talk.

Missouri teachers: nobody explains the PSRS system the way it should be explained.

I've been talking to teachers all across the state and the story is always the same. 20, 25, 30 years in the system and nobody has ever walked them through how their retirement actually works, especially when it comes to the PLSO.

In this video I break down your three PLSO options simply:
✅ Give it back to PSRS to increase your monthly pension
✅ Use it to buy a single premium annuity from a private company
✅ Roll it into an IRA you control directly

Most teachers don't know all three exist. Most don't know which one is right for their situation.

Oak Trees and the S&P 500 grow around the same rate. Let your money grow like an oak tree. One day it will be large, strong and provide you great protection.

Give me a call anytime at 660-248-2223 and we can talk about growing your own oak tree. Either the actual plant or your money, unfortunately I don't know that much about the plant though....
