Small Business Owners!

Did you file an extension this year? Filing an extension does not extend time to pay your taxes. However, I do suggest to pay as much as you can as as soon as you can. We all want to keep our hard earn money in our pockets. But we are humans and stuff happens and that is ok. Paying your fee can help reduce penalties and interest you may owe. Additionally, you can consider setting up a payment plan with the IRS to pay off you taxes over time.

What is the reason why you filed an extension? Where you so busy with your business' that there was no time to your own books? Did you do your own books but not sure you did them correct? Or do you need advice on tax planning strategies to help reduce tax liability and maximize deductions.

Hello, My name is Amanda and I am your bookkeeper best friend and wanted to provide a few tips for all my small business owners.

Track your Assets! Take advantage of the depreciation tax law. If you purchased an asset over $2,500 you can depreciate it every year until the life of the asset. $$$$$

Collect W9 Forms Early! When you first hire a contactor and you pay them over $600 (per year) by cash, check or ACH transfer you need to have them fill out the W9 first. Save yourself some stress and make the W9 form part of your onboarding process. Also, you must issue a 1099 by January 31st. Do not wait until the last minute!
