The Truth About Tax Preparation
I got my start in the tax industry at a large, well-known franchise. Iâm genuinely grateful for that experienceâand especially thankful to have trained under an experienced and patient preparer who set a strong foundation for me.
That said, the experience also opened my eyes to some serious issues within parts of the industry.
Some of the frustrations I witnessed:
⢠Predatory practices that prioritized volume over client outcomes
⢠Little to no training or oversight for new preparers
⢠A general lack of ongoing education and professional development
⢠Lack of transparency when it came to pricing
⢠Inconsistent pricingâsome clients undercharged for complex returns, others overcharged for simple ones
⢠One-hour appointments across the board, regardless of return complexity
⢠Clients not being properly guided on what documents to bring, leading to incomplete or rushed filings
⢠Leadership that deflected responsibility instead of addressing systemic issues
There are countless great books, tools, and resources on leadership and running a business effectively. Thatâs why itâs always surprisingâand honestly disappointingâto see people in leadership roles fall short, creating confusion, inefficiency, and even a hostile work environment.
Experiences like this are exactly why Iâve built my practice differently.
I believe in:
⢠Education
⢠Transparency
⢠Fair and consistent pricing
⢠Thoughtful, unrushed service
⢠And most importantlyâwhatâs best for the client
Because at the end of the day, tax preparation isnât just about numbers⌠itâs about trust!
My goal is simple: make sure you feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way.
