Established an accounting practice in the San Fernando Valley in 1992. Obtained CPA certification in August of 1993 and operated as a sole practitioner until February of 2000 when I incorporated my business under California law. Prior to opening my own practice, I was a fraud auditor with the State of California Board of Equalization. As an auditor I had access to
records and accounting systems of different sized businesses in a wide variety of industries. The analysis of these varied companies has assisted me with strategies I employ today for the benefit of my existing clients. Many of the audits I conducted were done in conjunction with the IRS, EDD, Department of Justice, and other agencies. The insight obtained from working with auditors from those agencies was incorporated into the knowledge base I use today to help my clients in dealing with the various tax authorities they must report to. I also worked for three years at a small CPA firm in Northridge, CA where I obtained the knowledge on how to run my own practice and assist clients in different industries with their accounting and tax issues. Over the years several of my clients who began their business in California have relocated to other states and I have continued as their CPA so my experience with multi-state tax issues and regulations is always in a continual growth process. I am currently a member of the Society of California Accountants and the Hispanic Business Network. The rules of my profession dictate that I must have 80 hours of continual education every two year to maintain my license. These rules keep me current with the latest tax issues and regulations. My staff includes one other CPA, also a former sales tax auditor, which makes for a combined experience level of over 35 years in matters regarding sales and use taxes. Additionally, I have two support staff (bookkeepers) who have each been with my practice for over 7 years. This combined level of knowledge and expertise in payroll, sales, and income tax matters allows my clients peace of mind when they entrust the administrative portion of their business, as it relates to taxes, in my hands.
