I’m honored to share that today I was selected as Second Vice President of the California Society of Enrolled Agents (CSEA).

This role provides an exciting opportunity to drive meaningful, state-level impact—from upholding our professional standards to strengthening membership and leading change that ensures CSEA continues to evolve alongside the needs of Enrolled Agents across California.

Serving in this statewide leadership capacity, along with my Board position with the Mission Society of Enrolled Agents MSEA, allows me to advocate for our profession both locally and across the state. I’m grateful for the trust placed in me and energized by the opportunity to serve our members on a broader scale.

Hey Friend -
I think you'll like this - those higher standard deductions that were introduced a few years back? Well, they were just a temporary thing, and were set to EXPIRE in 2026. 😒. But, the One Big Beautiful Bill made the higher standard deduction permanent! That means more of your income stays untaxed.

Here are the new amounts for the standard deduction:
💍 Married Filing Jointly: $32,200
💔 Married Filing Separate: $16,100
🙂 Single: $16,100
👩‍👧 Head of Household: $24,150

Why it matters: You’ll automatically get this bigger deduction when you file — no need to itemize unless you have large deductions.

Less taxable income = more money in your pocket. 💵 Woot woot!

Hey Savvy Taxpayers -

If you donate to charity, here’s a tip to tuck away for next year’s tax planning - it's an easy way to reduce your taxes by $200 - $740, depending on your tax bracket.

Starting January 1, 2026, the IRS will allow most taxpayers to deduct up to $1,000 (single) or $2,000 (married filing jointly) in charitable donations even if you don’t itemize.

WHO QUALIFIES:
- Anyone who takes the standard deduction (most taxpayers).
- Gifts must be cash donations made to qualified public charities — not goods, clothing, or donor-advised funds.
- You’ll still need a receipt or acknowledgment letter from the charity.

WHAT DOESN'T COUNT:
- Non-cash donations, private foundations, and gifts made before 2026.
- Contributions made in 2024 or 2025 still follow the old rules — meaning only itemizers can deduct them.

WHEN IT KICK IN:
- This new “above-the-line” deduction applies for the 2026 tax year, so you’ll first claim it when you file your 2026 return in 2027.

WHY IT MATTERS
- Until now, only itemizers got a tax break for giving. This change means millions of everyday taxpayers will get credit for their generosity — starting in 2026.
- Depending on your tax bracket, donations of $2000 to charitable organizations could reduce your taxes by $200 - $740!
- So keep donating because it’s a kind thing to do — and get ready for a little extra reward from Uncle Sam. ❤️
