Does your business keep the break room stocked? There's a 2026 tax change you'll want to know about.

Starting in 2026, most employer-provided meals and snacks for convenience- think office coffee, the stocked fridge, and working lunches- are no longer deductible. The good news: plenty of other meal write-offs are staying put, including client meals, travel meals, and team celebrations.

The catch is knowing which of your expenses fall into which bucket, because the categories matter more than ever now. On the blog, we break it all down, plus the exact records the IRS wants you to keep. https://loom.ly/SEnX018

Thinking about handing off your taxes or bookkeeping but not sure what that even looks like? Let's demystify it.
Working with us is less "scary leap" and more "finally, someone's got this." Here's how it usually goes:

A free, zero-pressure chat — we get to know you, your business, and what's stressing you out.

We map out exactly what you need — maybe that's bookkeeping, maybe it's just taxes, maybe it's a mix. Only what actually helps you.

We meet you right where you are — books that are spotless, a little messy, brand new, or not part of the picture at all.

However you come to us, we've got it. No judgment, truly.

You get to breathe again, knowing the tax nerds are on it.

That's it. No confusing jargon, no lectures about that shoebox of receipts — just a friendly team in your corner.
Ready to see how easy it can be? Book your free, zero-pressure consultation today (link in bio) and let's talk. 💙

Fun tax fact: the "home office" you're picturing and the one the IRS will actually deduct are two very different things.

Here's the catch that trips people up: to claim the home office deduction, the space generally has to be used regularly AND exclusively for business. That cozy setup at the kitchen table where you also eat breakfast? Usually doesn't count. The desk in the guest room that doubles as a treadmill-holder? Also tricky.

The IRS is surprisingly literal about "exclusively" — the classic example is that a home office technically shouldn't double as the family TV room. One dedicated corner used only for work can qualify; a multitasking space usually can't.

The takeaway: working from home doesn't automatically mean a home office deduction — but set it up right, and it can be a real one. (And yes, the rules are different for employees vs. the self-employed.)

Curious whether your home setup qualifies? That's exactly the kind of thing we love sorting out.

The IRS changed your mileage rate — mid-year. Swipe so it doesn't cost you →

Thanks to rising fuel prices, the standard mileage rates were revised partway through 2026.
For travel on or after July 1:
Business: 72.5¢ → 76¢/mile
Medical & moving: 20.5¢ → 23.5¢/mile
Charitable: 14¢/mile (unchanged)

The big catch? 2026 now has TWO rate periods. If you use the standard mileage method, you'll need to track your January–June miles separately from your July–December miles — each gets multiplied by its own rate at tax time.

Swipe through for the quick version, then head to the blog for the full breakdown: a plain-English example, what the IRS wants in your records, which miles even count, and a heads-up for employers who reimburse mileage. https://loom.ly/PrHz3tI

If you drive for work, this one's worth the swipe.

The joys of a fully remote office.

One minute our "coworker" is diligently supervising the workday, and the next she's completely abandoned her post for a staring contest with an unexpected visitor in the yard. (For the record, the bird did not have a meeting scheduled.)

This is the reality of working from home — some days it's spreadsheets and deadlines, and some days it's whatever this is. Honestly? We wouldn't trade it. The flexibility and focus of remote work are a big part of what lets us show up fully for our clients... even when the office cat clocks out early.

What's the most unexpected "coworker" that's ever crashed your work-from-home day? Drop it in the comments! 👇

"She can actually make taxes and QuickBooks fun — if you can believe that!"

We're a little obsessed with this 5-star review from Makiyah. After nearly 5 years working together on her LLC, she summed up what we hope every client feels: responsive, competent, and (dare we say) actually enjoyable to work with.

Taxes and bookkeeping don't have to be a chore you dread — and reviews like this remind us why we love what we do. Thank you, Makiyah, for the high praise and for trusting us with your business all these years!

Ready to make your taxes a little more fun (and a lot less stressful)? We'd love to help.

20 years of magic, thanks to Amanda! (Yes, that photo is from 2006 — and yes, we're a little obsessed with it.)

Every team has that one person who somehow makes everything work — the one who pulls the answer out of thin air, calms the chaos, and leaves you wondering "how did she DO that?" At AccountAbility, that's Amanda, our resident magician.

Two decades ago, back in 2006, Amanda started with our team… and she's been working her magic ever since.

A peek behind the curtain at what makes Amanda, well, Amanda:
🪄 Twenty years of knowing exactly how to make things run smoothly — there's not much she hasn't handled
🪄 The steady presence who keeps the whole team on track, wherever we're logging in from
🪄 The person you're always glad is in your corner

Amanda, thank you for two decades of dedication, loyalty, and a bit of magic. People like you are the backbone of a firm like ours, and we're beyond grateful you've spent 20 years of your career with us. Here's to you!

The 2026 mileage change, all in one glance.

Because of rising fuel prices, the IRS bumped the standard mileage rates mid-year — so your 2026 business miles now fall into two periods:
Jan–June: 72.5¢/mile
July–Dec: 76¢/mile

Save this as your quick-reference cheat sheet, then head to the blog for the full breakdown: a plain-English example, what the IRS wants in your records, and a heads-up for employers who reimburse mileage.
