A revenue target without a profit goal is like planning a road trip by the number of miles you want to drive rather than where you want to end up. You can drive a lot of miles and still end up nowhere interesting.

There's a saying that "people won't notice if you're clean, but they'll notice if you're dirty."

Effective admin work is like that. When done properly, you're invisible.

The invisible work is the systems built behind the deliverables: the processes that prevent the fires and the financial architecture that glues it all together.

Equally as intentional as it is invisible.

If your business is running smoothly, you probably have someone like that. If it's not, you might be missing one.

Revenue is vanity, profit is sanity; cash is king, but margin is the throne.

Cash gets all the glory, but margin is what actually keeps it coming. Without margin, it’s a constant scramble to refill the coffers. With it, the throne stays occupied. šŸ’°

Settle in, because it's time for a bookkeeping bedtime story!

šŸŒ› Sleepless Nights & Profitability FrightsšŸŒ›

The books are balanced, everything's fine,

Except for that feeling that's hard to define.

Revenue's steady, the calendar's full,

But something feels off, and you feel the pull.

You stare at the numbers, they stare right back,

Like they're keeping a secret; a code you can't crack.

Your busiest month left you somehow broke,

And your "best-selling service" starts to feel like a joke.

No ghosts in the closet, no monster's in sight,

Just margins and mix ratios keeping you up at night.

The numbers aren't lying, they just haven't been read,

By someone who speaks their language instead.

So pour that coffee, I know you're tired.

One call with me and you'll leave feeling inspired.

The story's already there - it just needs a translator.

Your books aren't the problem. Call me, see you later!

Some causes are professional.
Some are personal.
This one is both. ā¤ļø

The National Family Association for DeafBlind (NFADB) is organizing the first DeafBlind Caucus meeting on Capitol Hill, bringing lawmakers together to learn about the needs, strengths, and lived experiences of the DeafBlind community.

This effort helps ensure that individuals who are DeafBlind, and the families who love and support them, have a voice in conversations that shape education, accessibility, and services nationwide.

As someone who has family within the DeafBlind community, this mission is especially meaningful to me. Advocacy like this helps create visibility, understanding, and better opportunities for individuals whose experiences are often overlooked.

NFADB is currently raising funds to support this historic meeting. Even small contributions help provide resources for the event and demonstrate the widespread support behind this community.

If this is a cause that resonates with you, I encourage you to learn more or consider supporting the mission.

Visibility matters. Advocacy matters. And communities grow stronger when people show up for one another.

Have you been using buzzwords like ā€œgo-getterā€ in your job ads? You may not be finding the right candidates because your listings lack clarity.

Buzzwords sound appealing, but they leave too much up to interpretation. One person’s idea of a ā€œgo-getterā€ can look very different in practice.

When you name specific, observable behaviors, expectations become clearer. Teams align more easily. Leadership feels less reactive.

If things feel fuzzy or harder than they should right now, it may be time for more clarity.

If everything in your business feels urgent, it is usually not because you are doing something wrong.

It is because you do not have a clear North Star.

When there is no single outcome defining success, every request feels important. Every opportunity feels like it needs a yes. Every decision carries weight, because nothing is filtering what actually matters.

A North Star Goal is not a vision board or a vague aspiration. It is not about manifesting or finding the perfect phrase. It is the one outcome that quietly guides your business decisions. The standard you measure everything against.

Your North Star is what keeps you from saying yes to the wrong things, even when those things sound exciting, profitable, or urgent in the moment.

And here is the part most people miss: it does not have to sound impressive.

A North Star can be as simple as:
ā€œBuild a business that runs profitably and does not depend on me to survive.ā€

That single sentence changes everything. It reframes how you hire, what work you take on, how you price your services, and where you spend your time. It gives you permission to pause instead of react.

Once you are clear on your North Star, decision-making becomes quieter and more grounded. You stop asking ā€œCan we do this?ā€ and start asking a better question:

Does this move us closer?

If your days feel reactive, scattered, or heavier than they should, this is often where the story needs a bookmark. Sometimes clarity is not about doing more, but about finally naming what you are building toward.

If you need help finding that North Star or using it to make sense of your numbers, send me a message. We can flip back a few pages and read what your business is already telling you.

Healthy businesses balance on three legs:

🧩 Clients, who need consistent, high-quality service.
šŸ‘„ Employees, who need support and manageable bandwidth.
šŸ¢ The company, which needs to remain profitable and stable.

Remove any one of those legs, and the whole thing tips over.

Strong leadership is not about pushing harder. It is about protecting balance before imbalance turns into a crisis.

If you are feeling strain in one of these areas, it might be time to take a closer look.
Send me a message and let’s talk through what your numbers are really telling you.

December is the perfect time to do some soul-searching and financial accounting (the kind that happens before your CPA gets involved.)

Look at what really happened this year:
• What grew easily?
• What drained you dry?
• What brought profit and peace?
• What simply looked good on paper?

The truth lives in your books. Before setting new goals, reconcile what this last year is trying to tell you.
