For those of you who track your mileage: this means that at EOY you will need two numbers for mileage. We can not just take the yearly total and divide it in half.
The IRS is increasing its standard mileage rates midyear, citing recent increases in fuel prices.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the optional standard mileage rates are:
• 76 cents per mile for business use, up from 72.5 cents
• 23.5 cents per mile for medical purposes, up from 20.5 cents
• 23.5 cents per mile for moving purposes for eligible active-duty members of the Armed Forces and certain members of the intelligence community, up from 20.5 cents
• 14 cents per mile for charitable miles, unchanged
That means there are now two sets of standard mileage rates for 2026.
The original rates still apply to eligible expenses paid or incurred from January 1 through June 30. The revised rates apply to eligible expenses paid or incurred on or after Jul
