For those of you who track your mileage: this means that at EOY you will need two numbers for mileage. We can not just take the yearly total and divide it in half.

The IRS is increasing its standard mileage rates midyear, citing recent increases in fuel prices.

Beginning July 1, 2026, the optional standard mileage rates are:
• 76 cents per mile for business use, up from 72.5 cents
• 23.5 cents per mile for medical purposes, up from 20.5 cents
• 23.5 cents per mile for moving purposes for eligible active-duty members of the Armed Forces and certain members of the intelligence community, up from 20.5 cents
• 14 cents per mile for charitable miles, unchanged

That means there are now two sets of standard mileage rates for 2026.

The original rates still apply to eligible expenses paid or incurred from January 1 through June 30. The revised rates apply to eligible expenses paid or incurred on or after Jul

April 15, 2026. The end of our 36th tax season, (except for the extensions). 101 days of taking care of our old clients and meeting new people. Days of accomplishments, frustrations, software glitches, too many “ clicks” and let’s not forget the snow and power outages and the morning I thought the server was failing.

Thank you to our clients, old and new, who trusted us with an important part of your life. Whether it is explaining new tax law, helping set up a new business, preparing your returns or taking care of the final returns for a client who has passed, this is what we do for you. It isn’t always easy, you don’t always like us ( yes, you really do owe money) but your trust in us is important and not something we take for granted.

Thank you to our family and friends who support us during this time. Who quietly handle all of the things we miss right now so that we can keep going. You are so important to us and we couldn’t do this without you. Love you always.

37 days left of this “tax season”. There have definitely been challenges; all the specifics of the One Big Beautiful Bill, tax forms that took 30 plus days to get approved and then, no internet and phones Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Thank you everyone for your patience.

Don’t wait till the last minute, as we head into the next month, stop in and see us and bring your 2025 paperwork so we can get your tax returns ready for you to file. Hours are Monday thru Thursday, 9AM to 6PM, Friday, 9AM to 5PM and Saturday, 9AM to 3PM.

And it begins…

And it begins…

So far, lawmakers have rejected sweeping reductions to IRS funding sought by the White House, opting for a trim. Still, the agency faces an uncertain future.

Oh my gosh! Tax school is next week, (also known as 3 days of lots of new information and tax law). Thanksgiving the week after and Christmas is in 40 days. No, it doesn’t mean I need to start shopping. It means the beginning of our 36th tax season starts in 47 days.

More information to come but this topic seems to be of high priority for a lot of people - this is a good explanation of what I have seen so far.

Also, just a reminder, this is not a political statement for me. This is trying to provide the most accurate information on the new tax law for clients

Today is April 15th, the 105th day of this year, and a special day in this office: the end of our 35th tax season! This year was bittersweet. For those of you who didn't know, my mom and business partner retired last year, so this year was extra challenging as we learned to navigate these last few months without her presence.

Thank you to all of our employees for the understanding and dedication you bring to work every day. As always, we work together and accomplish what sometimes seems to be the impossible.

Thank you to our families. We love what we do but your love and support make the all of this possible.

The IRS will start accepting e-file tax returns on January 27th this year. If you already have your W-2s stop in and see us so we can get your return ready to process when e-filing opens.

That time of the year, one week down.

April 15th and the end of our 34th tax season! Thank you to our clients for once again placing your trust in us. We love what we do (most days) and are honored by your continued faith in us.

Thank you to our employees, we couldn't do this without your support and dedication to our firm.

Thank you to our family and friends for all you have done to support us during the last 105 days and also all year round. We probably don't say it often enough but you are so appreciated and so loved.
