Last week's markets:
S&P 500: +0.13% | Nasdaq: -0.08% | Dow: -0.17%
The week started strong. The S&P 500 broke above 7,400 for the first time and the Nasdaq hit a new high as chip stocks rallied.
Tuesday brought hotter than expected inflation numbers, pulling markets lower before recovering somewhat by close.
Wednesday and Thursday saw both the S&P and Nasdaq hit new records. Strong earnings from a major tech company and chip stock strength pushed the S&P above 7,500 and the Dow back over 50,000.
Friday reversed course as a three-day U.S.-China summit wrapped up without major breakthroughs on Middle East peace talks.
