For those of us who call Sevier County home, Dolly Parton was never simply a famous singer from Tennessee.
She was ours.
She was the little girl from Locust Ridge who grew up with very little, dreamed big, and never forgot the mountains, the people, and the hometown that shaped her. She carried Sevierville and the Smokies with her everywhere she went—and she made sure the world knew exactly where she came from.
Dolly gave us so much more than songs. She gave back to the children of her hometown. She invested in our community. She brought people from all over the world to these mountains. And perhaps most importantly, she showed generations of East Tennesseans that you can leave home without ever leaving it behind.
Around here, there will always be a little more meaning in the songs she sang, a little more pride when we say her name, and a little more love for these mountains because Dolly loved them, too.
Sevierville Tax Service is proud to call this community home, and today we join our neighbors throughout Sevier County in remembering a woman who made an extraordinary difference—not just in the world, but right here at home.
Thank you, Dolly, for never forgetting where you came from.
The mountains will always be home.
And you will always be part of them. 🏔️❤️
With love and gratitude,
Sevierville Tax Service
