Happy 2nd Gotcha Day to Simon & Marcy!
Their story actually started long before they became our office cats.
Simon & Marcy, then Darla & Fezco, originally came from France. Their owners had to return home and unfortunately couldn't take them with them. They eventually found themselves at the SPCA of Luzerne County, where they spent several months waiting for a new home.
They were adopted and returned...then adopted again and returned again. 💔
Being back at the shelter was especially hard on Simon. The SPCA even tried separating the two, but Simon stopped eating. It was pretty clear these bonded siblings needed to stay together.
Our office has volunteered at the SPCA for years, which is how we met them. One of the volunteers told us their story (and may have done a pretty good job convincing us that they belonged with us).
At the time, they had been there so long that the SPCA was considering transferring them to another shelter in hopes they might have better luck finding a home.
Thankfully, they never had to go. ❤️
On August 29, 2024, Darla & Fezco became Simon & Marcy.
Two years later, it's hard to believe how far they've come. Simon, who was once so nervous, now greets our customers and happily asks for pets. Marcy has come so far too — we'll never forget the first time she finally let Amy hold her. ❤️
These days they pretty much run the office. They greet customers, steal our chairs, supervise our work, watch Cat TV and make sure breakfast, treats and plenty of pets are always on schedule.
Most importantly, after everything they've been through, they're still together.
Happy Gotcha Day, Simon & Marcy. We can't imagine the office without you two. ❤️
And a special thank you to the SPCA of Luzerne County for taking care of them until they found their way to us.
