As we near the April 15th tax filing deadline, we want to give our thanks and appreciation for all the referrals and of course our repeat clients that continue to trust us with their tax filing needs.

Because of the tremendous growth and also some hiccups/learning curve with our new tax software we implemented this year, there will be a lot of people going on extension this year. We realize people don't love the idea of the extension, however, rest assured we will be right back at it after the deadline to ensure everyone gets done as soon as possible. We will also be putting some things in place for next year as we look to continue to increase efficiency and keep all of our clients happy.

The extension will save you any late filing penalties, but keep in mind, if you get refunds the deadline isn't for you, as they do not charge penalties or anything for filing late if you get a refund. That is only if the tax return has a balance due. We always file the extension for everyone, just in case, but if you get refunds you don't need it.

We thank you tremendously for your patience and for your business and we will be sure to get to everyone as soon as we can.

We are officially out of in-person appointments before the April 15th deadline. However, we can always put you on extension and you can book an appointment for right after the deadline. We also offer remote services, if you would like to send over your documents (we have a secure file share portal) or drop them off at the office, we can potentially get it done a little sooner that way.

If you are looking to schedule an in-person appointment to have your taxes done and have been waiting to book, you should go on my website pinnacleaccountingfirm.com (click “Book Appointment”) and book it now because the time slots are running out. We currently don’t have any appointments left in March and April is filling fast. Of course, we offer remote options as well and we are booking more appointments for after the deadline (an extension will be filed for you), but if you were trying to come in before the deadline, don’t wait any longer. If you are planning on coming in for an in-person appointment, make sure you go on our website (pinnacleaccountingfirm.com) and book sooner than later as we are currently booked through the end of February, and March appointments are filling fast.

If you are sending your documents to work remotely with us and did not get the email from Intuit Link (our new file share portal through our tax software), please reach out and we will send it over right away.

Existing clients should check their emails for an email that was sent out yesterday (1/13/26) via Intuit, which is our new tax software we are using this year. This email has a heading of "Getting Ready For Tax Time" and has a few documents/links. If you do not see this email (check Spam/Junk folders), this may be because we don't have your email address on file. Feel free to call us to provide.

There is an Engagement Letter that outlines our scope of work and will need to be accepted by typing your name and clicking "Accept".

You will also find a Questionnaire, where you will enter or confirm some information regarding the tax return.

Additionally, there is a Document Checklist listing the different types of tax documents that you may or may not have, with an upload function to upload your documents directly.

Lastly, you will see a Shared Documents folder. This is where you will see which documents you have uploaded on your end, as well as the completed tax return that we have shared with you for your records once we are done.

Even if you are coming in for an in-person appointment, we would like you to do these steps prior to your appointment, as that will allow for a smooth & efficient meeting. This will also help ensure you have all the documents you need and not forgetting any. If you are a new client and would like us to send you this email, you can call us in the office and provide your information and we will be happy to do so.

This may seem very complicated, but it is actually very easy and efficient, making things easier for you and for us. If you have any questions or issues, feel free to call us in the office to discuss. It's that time again! We hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season and wish everyone a happy, healthy and blessed New Year!

We are now booking our in-person appointments online so if you'd like to schedule an appointment, feel free to go to our website pinnacleaccountingfirm.com and click “Book Appointment”. There you will see all of our availability and you can pick the day/time that works for you.

Of course, we are still working remotely with clients all over the country, so if you’re interested in our services and you’re not local or just prefer not to come in for an appointment, don’t hesitate to reach out! We have switched software this year, so we will no longer be using the online file share portal you may be used to, however, we have a new document delivery option with client organizers, etc to use when working remotely.

While, the IRS has has not yet announced when they will open the E-File portal, it looks like it will be sometime between January 26th and 30th. That doesn't mean you have to wait until then for us to prepare your taxes, if you know you have everything you need, we will be happy to prepare your tax return ahead of time and it will be released the day they open the portal. Keep in mind, employers have until January 31st to provide W-2's and 1099's, and investment brokerage statements may not be released until mid-February or even March, so if you're not positive you have everything you need, it's best to wait to have your taxes prepared.
