Suki, I am so proud of you! To see your vision, hard work, and purpose come together in such a beautiful way was truly inspiring. This is more than a magazine—it is about empowering women, building community, and creating a legacy. 💜

What made it even more special was celebrating alongside these amazing women. We are all women in business with our businesses located in the same building—supporting, encouraging, and celebrating one another. Now THAT is what women supporting women looks like! 👏🏾💐

💰 FINANCIAL FRIDAY! 💰

Business owners, entrepreneurs, churches, nonprofits, and anyone paying individuals to perform services—this one is for YOU!

🚨 There’s a NEW 1099 reporting threshold for 2026!

For many qualifying payments, the federal reporting threshold has increased from $600 ➡️ $2,000.

But WAIT! ✋🏾 This does NOT mean everyone you pay $2,000 or more automatically gets a 1099!

The question is: What was the payment actually for?

📌 1099-NEC — Generally for qualifying payments to independent contractors/nonemployees for services.

📌 1099-MISC — Used for certain other reportable payments such as rent, prizes and awards, certain other income, and other specific categories.

📌 Reimbursement ≠ automatically 1099 income. If someone paid a documented business or organizational expense and was simply reimbursed, don’t automatically classify that payment as compensation for services.

And please… GET THOSE W-9s! 📝😂
Don’t wait until January and then start chasing everybody down!

My Financial Friday Tip:
💡 Don’t issue a 1099 simply because money changed hands. Know what the payment was for, properly classify it, and keep the documentation to support it.

Have you heard about the potential COVID-19 IRS refund claims?

If you’ve paid IRS penalties or interest during the COVID-19 disaster period, you may be eligible to file a protective refund claim.

Here’s what you should know:

✔️ Some individuals may be eligible to file electronically.
✔️ Business taxpayers must currently file paper claims.
✔️ The case is still under appeal.
✔️ Filing a claim does not guarantee a refund.
