Have you ever said,

"Once I pay off my debt, then I'll start investing."
"Once the kids are out of the house, then we'll travel."
"Once I have more saved, then I'll start the business."

When I hear this, I can't help but ask the question: how will you know when that moment actually arrives?

I've noticed after years of coaching people through their finances the "once this happens" conversation is rarely about timing. It's about fear. Fear of getting it wrong. Fear of not being ready. Fear of what happens if you actually try and it doesn't work.

So the dream stays safely in the future where it can't be tested.

But what if you looked at your actual situation right now? What if you review your real numbers, your real options, your real life and discovered you were closer than you thought?

I've seen people do exactly that and it changes their perspective. The sun isn't waiting. Neither should you.

What are you waiting for that you might actually be able to start today?

Wednesday night wrapped up the Ace Your Interview Workshop series and I am still experiencing so much gratitude for it.

This group of attendees showed up engaged, enthusiastic, and full of great questions. What surprised me most was how authentic they were with us and each other. As they practiced one of the strategies for answering tough interview questions, they shared what had worked for them in the past and offered each other genuine encouragement along the way.

I could not be more proud of every person in that room for showing up and investing in themselves.

And the credit belongs squarely to Karen Cash, founder of Aspire DEIB Consultant Services identified the need, built the solution, and brought community sponsors like Wellpoint alongside to make it happen completely free for attendees.

It was truly an honor to be part of these workshops, Karen.

Yesterday I attended the 2nd Annual North Idaho Women & Their Money Conference at North Idaho College.

My experience was magical (& uncomfortable). Over 500 women registered to attend, 400 of whom hadn't attended before and 280 of whom registered as primary income earners in their household.

That's proof that women need to know how to work with, manage, invest, and plan for their financial decisions!

And get this...the conference was 100% free, removing all barriers that might limit women from the financial literacy we need.

Major sponsors included Spokane Teachers Credit Union and North Idaho College.

Did I mention that they raised $40,000 to give away in scholarships?! 🤯

If you're wondering why I was uncomfortable, it's because it was such a HUGE conference and I was surrounded by lots of financial gurus including, Alison Kosik.

A client shared something with me last week that delighted me.

She had a dental crown replaced. Her insurance covers replacements after seven years. Hers qualified, but she was charged anyway.

A few hundred dollars.

She confessed that before we started working together, she would have just paid the bill. No questions asked because that's what she always did.

This time? She's writing a letter to get the charge reversed.

I was so proud of her.

We talk a lot about financial success in terms of numbers. Debt paid off, savings goals and budgets and those things matter.

And sometimes success looks like a woman who believes her money is worth fighting for!

That's the work and I am here for it.

Last Saturday I set up my booth at the Spring Craft & Vendor Fair in Valleyford.

What I did not plan for was rain.

While most vendors had canopies, I had an umbrella, an uncovered table, and a tablecloth that was slowly becoming a sponge.

I could have given up. I could have sat in my car. I could have cried.

Instead, I introduced myself to the vendors around me. I learned about their businesses. I bought from a few of them. I spent time with my brother. And eventually the sun came out, the tablecloth dried, and I walked away with a little sunburn to prove I stayed.

Why do I share this with you? Because resilience isn't dramatic. It's just deciding not to quit when things get uncomfortable.

And that's exactly what it takes when you're changing how you earn, save, and give money. It rarely goes perfectly. There will be rain. There will be moments where sitting in your car sounds really good.

But the sun does come out. And you'll be glad you stayed!

Last week I registered for a free event. My friend who invited me couldn't make it. The event wasn't quite what I expected.

And yet.

I saw a beautiful new coworking space in downtown Spokane. I ran into a couple of familiar faces. I met a few new people, including Hara.

Hara Allison is a graphic designer, photographer, and videographer with serious talent and a studio that will take your breath away in the Paulson Building downtown. During my visit with her today in her studio, we laughed about what it's like to be women over 45 these days, we talked about following your heart, and the courage it takes to build something that's truly yours.

Not every investment comes with a price tag. Sometimes the return on showing up is a new friendship, a new perspective, or a new creative partner you didn't know you needed.

I showed up. And I found Hara!
