The IRS has just announced that the tax filing deadline has been extended from April 15th to May 17th.

One of the tax implications of the Biden Covid Relief bill is that the first $10,200. of unemployment insurance received in 2020 is tax free. The IRS is in the process of developing or modifying a form to reflect this change. For those who have already filed their return, the IRS is holding your return if it reflects the receipt of unemployment compensation. They advise at this time not to file an amended return.

The IRS has said income tax forms can be filed beginning February 12, 2021.

The office is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00AM until 2:00PM. The office is closed Thursday and Friday. This unrelated to the Corana virus. I do it every year during the summer. I ask everyone to wear a mask when coming to the office. If you prefer not to I will try and accomodate you over the phone.

In compliance with the Governors stay at home mandate, the office will be closed until May 1st. Be advised, the IRS has extended the filing date of tax returns until July 15th so no one is in jeopardy of filing a late return. During this period of medical crisis I am reducing my office hours. I am also limiting the office to one client at a time. I set my appointments so that no two people should be in the office at the same time. Make sure you arrive on time. Don't be late and don't be early. If you see I am with a client please wait outside. I will make every effort to accommodate every client. Please, bring your own pen. If not, you will have to use a communial pen. I'm making every effort to keep the office clean, but realize I am an accountant not a health care professional. Let's all work together and get through this.

For the past three weeks I have been havings problems with my Spectrum phone system. No dial tone or dropped calls. I have my office phone transferred to my cell until this problem is resolved. Rest assured I am at the office and it's business as usual.

I have just been notified by the IRS that personal taxes, Form 1040 will not be able to file until some time in Mid February. This is no reason to delay preparing your taxes. Call for appointment the sooner the better.
