Yes, Georgia state tax rebates were approved.

Not everyone will qualify.

You must have a filed GA state return (2024 and 2025) and if you had a tax balance, it will be deducted from your rebate.

If you qualify for one, it will come the same way you got your refund.

I've already gotten emails about deposits going out.

If you are to receive a check, you can pick it it up on Wednesday's when the office is open.

As of right now I do not see anyone with a check pending.

Remember, the tax bank charges $14 for any deposits received after your federal.

So if your filing status is single, expect $236 instead of $250

If it's HOH, expect $361 instead of $375.

If it's married filing joint, expect $486 instead of $500.

📌 TAX PRO UPDATE

I'm seeing the post and just to be clear as of January 1st, the IRS has not yet released the official start date for the 2026 tax season.
No need to panic that’s normal. They typically announce the opening date sometime in January.

We’re all anticipating an update tomorrow or Monday, but y’all know how the IRS moves 😂 so we’ll wait for the official word.

However, the BANKS WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW 🔥 which means we can start running advances and get clients PAID even before the IRS opens!

Here’s the short why 2026 (the tax-filing season for 2025 income) is expected to be a big refund year — and not just a little bump, but possibly one of the largest in recent history:

🧾 1. Major new tax law changes apply retroactively

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), passed in July 2025, made many tax cuts permanent and introduced new deductions and credits, but most of these changes apply to the entire 2025 tax year — even though the law came mid-year. 

Because payroll withholding tables weren’t updated in time for most of 2025, employers continued withholding taxes as if the old (higher) liability rules were still in place. That means many workers overpaid taxes all year long. When returns are filed in early 2026 and the IRS reconciles tax owed versus taxes paid, that overpayment shows up as a larger refund.

Bottom line: 2026 isn’t necessarily that the IRS is suddenly paying out more money overall — it’s that tax laws changed mid-year, withholding didn’t catch up, and taxpayers will get back the excess they already paid based on the old rules when they file their 2025 returns in 2026. This is why refunds are expected to be bigger than normal.

Make sure you get a tax preparer that will capitalize on this the right way.
