As you know, the filing date for 1040 returns has been extended to July 15th as a result of the current Covid-19 crisis. But, unless you absolutely need to wait until July 15th, we’re advising all our tax clients to go ahead and file now. Why? Let’s look at the facts.

If you’re owed a refund, wouldn’t you rather have it sooner? And if you owe the IRS, it would be helpful to find out exactly how much you owe now, and then you have until July 15th to pay them.

Not to mention, who wants to still be worrying about getting your returns in on time in the middle of the summer? Summer is fun time, not tax time! Give us a call, and you can get this one thing checked off your 2020 to-do list.

Well, just yesterday (24 hours ago!), we told you the deadline for individual 1040 returns was still April 15th, and as of today, it isn't - it's July 15th now. So, you have some extra time if the coronavirus has jumbled up your life, as it has for many people.
