In the nanny world, teaching children about money, piggy banks, and saving for the future are par for the course. Sometimes as we get older we forget about these good habits, and focus solely on our immediate wants and needs. Perhaps 2020 needs to be the year of change?

The nanny industry is buzzing with conversations about making 2020 a year of recognition and change. A large part of that conversation has centered around fair and legal pay in the industry, and the personal and professional accountability required to change the norms of our industry.

Organizations like the INA, APNA, and the NDWA have called attention to the need for everyone in the household employment industry to be paid a fair wage, over the table, and to have compensation packages that include benefits like sick time, vacation, healthcare, and retirement. They have called for nannies, families and agencies to step up and individually and collectively take responsibility for the change that needs to happen. Homework Solutions is proud to be a part of this movement, recognizing the hard and important work that household employees perform each day, and their right to be fairly and legally compensated for that work.

Are you or a friend working as a nanny off the books, perhaps even without a contract? Do you worry about losing your job without unemployment insurance or even whether you will be paid for the next holiday or sick day?

It's never too late for a fresh start! HWS can help you and your employer make 2020 a year of recognition and change for you too, allowing you to begin earning the benefits you deserve. HomeWork Solutions sends a $50 Amazon gift card to nannies whose employer lists their nanny as having referred them for payroll services. Imagine the piggy bank you could buy with that! Change can be rewarding both personally and professionally. Let us help you take the first step in changing your future, and our industry, one nanny at a time.

Throughout 2019, organizations like the International Nanny Association, Association of Premier Nanny Agencies, and the National Domestic Workers Alliance have called attention to the need for everyone in the household employment industry to be paid a fair wage, over the table, and to receive benefits like sick time, vacation, healthcare, and retirement. Homework Solutions is proud to be a part of this movement.

HWS can help you and your employer make 2020 a year of change and recognition for YOU, allowing you to begin earning the benefits you deserve.
If in the past you haven’t been paid legally, it isn’t too late! Don't we teach children everyday that each day can be a fresh start?

A change to legal pay not only fulfills your tax and legal obligations, it provides you eligibility for benefits such as unemployment insurance, and eventually social security. Legal pay recognizes you as a professional and makes your future more secure. These benefit programs are EARNED; you must pay into them to receive the benefits! An employee must pay into social security for 40 quarters (10 years) in most cases to be able to receive any social security benefits at all. As of 2020, ten states and three cities will also have Domestic Worker Bills of Rights in place, which provide additional benefits and protections to employees being paid legally.

It's never too late for a fresh start! HWS can help you and your employer make 2020 a year of recognition and change for you too, allowing you to begin earning the benefits you deserve.
