As part of a new global policy effective Nov. 20, Airbnb hosts will not be able to ask guests to do chores that require “significant effort” such as taking out the trash, stripping the sheets, or washing dishes. Hosts can still ask guests to leave dishes in the sink or, say, leave the trash in a bear-proof container when staying in a cabin, but Airbnb has finally drawn the line between being a considerate guest and working for your keep, after already paying for it.

In September, Canadian travel to the United States was down slightly less than it was in the same month of 2025, but remains really low compared to 2024 levels as Canadians avoid the U.S. Trips by car were up 5.6% and trips by air were up 11.6% year over year in September. That is the 6th consecutive month of growth, but the numbers are abysmal compared to before relations between the two countries became tense; car trips in September 2026 were 31.1% lower than September 2024, and air trips were down 18.7% over the period.

According to the Marine Minerals Administration, 62.9% of daily offshore oil production — 1.28 million barrels per day — has been shut down due to Hurricane Isaias. Also, 57.4% of daily output (1.13 billion cubic feet per day) of natural gas production is now offline in advance of the storm. This means that about two-thirds of U.S. Gulf of Mexico oil production is now offline.

One-third of trucks sold in China this year run on electricity, which is having an immediate payoff as diesel spirals upward in cost. E-truck sales were up 80 percent in the first half of this year, and that’s one reason diesel consumption in China will drop 10 percent this year. A 125 mile journey for a diesel truck in the United States costs about $101; the same journey for an electric truck in China charged off-peak would cost $21.
