🚗💨 Mileage Rate Update for 2026! 💨🚗

The IRS just announced the new mileage rates, and business owners get a nice bump!

Starting January 1, 2026:
➡️ Business mileage increases to 72.5¢ per mile (up 2.5¢ from 2025)
➡️ Medical & moving mileage drops slightly to 20.5¢ per mile
➡️ Charitable mileage stays at 14¢ per mile

These rates apply to gas, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles. Using the standard mileage rate is optional—you can always choose actual expenses if that works better for you.

🎉 Fun tax trivia:
Ten years ago (2016), the business mileage rate was just 54.0¢ per mile. That’s an 18.5¢ increase per mile over the last decade thanks to rising vehicle costs and inflation!

Tracking miles matters more than ever—good records = real tax savings.

Questions on which method is best for your business? We’re happy to help!

💪 Work overtime? You’ll love this!

Starting with your 2025 tax return, part of your overtime pay will be tax-free under the new One Big Beautiful Bill Act! 🎉

That’s right — up to $12,500 (single) or $25,000 (married filing jointly) of qualified overtime can be excluded from federal income tax through 2028. 🙌

👉 Important: You won’t see this change in your paycheck — taxes will still be withheld the same way. You’ll get the benefit when you file your 2025 tax return (the refund or lower tax bill happens at tax time).

✅ More hours = more take-home pay later.
✅ No extra forms needed — your W-2 will show the info.
✅ Great reason to review your 2025 withholding now.

Questions about how it applies to you? Give us a call 📞 440-356-5588

🎒 Get Ready, Ohio! Sales Tax Holiday is BACK! 🛍️

Mark your calendars—from 12:00 a.m. on Friday, August 1, through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the state of Ohio is offering a TWO‑WEEK tax‑free shopping spree on qualifying items priced at $500 or less.

🛒 What’s included?
Most tangible personal property items sold in‑store or online (if paid during the exemption window), such as school supplies, clothing, electronics, books, furniture, kitchenware, décor, sporting goods, even dine‑in food and beverages—so long as each individual item costs $500 or less.

❌ What’s excluded?
Motor vehicles, watercraft/engines, alcohol, to***co, v***r products, and items containing ma*****na are still taxable—regardless of price.

💰 How much can you save?
Ohio’s base sales tax is 5.75%, and when combined with local taxes, the total can reach up to around 8% in places like Cuyahoga County. So on a $500 qualifying item, you could save up to $40 in tax.

📝 Bonus tips for shoppers:

Online orders qualify if ordered and paid for during the holiday, even if delivery happens later.

Discounts/coupons that push item cost below $500 still qualify.

Layaway or pick-up of items during the period also qualifies for exemption—even if item arrives later.

**Important Update on Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reporting Requirements**

On December 3, 2024, a federal district court issued a nationwide injunction halting the enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) and the BOI reporting rule. This means businesses are no longer required to meet the January 1, 2025, BOI reporting deadline until further notice.

We've been working with many of you to prepare BOI reports, and while this injunction is in effect, no immediate action is required. However, we recommend keeping your information ready in case the situation changes.

We are monitoring the updates closely and will notify you as soon as there is any new guidance or a change in the status of this requirement.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us. We are here to support you every step of the way!

📅 Important Tax Deadlines: September 16, 2024 📅

Attention business owners! 🚨 The September 16, 2024, deadline is quickly approaching for key tax filings. Here’s what you need to know:

1️⃣ 3rd Quarter Estimated Tax Payments Due:
If you’re self-employed, run a business, or have income from investments or other sources not subject to withholding, don’t forget to submit your 3rd quarter estimated tax payment by September 16. Paying on time helps you avoid penalties and interest!

2️⃣ Partnerships & S-Corporations Extension Deadline:
If you filed for an extension on your 2023 business tax return, the final deadline for partnerships and S-corporations is also September 16, 2024. This is your last chance to file your business return on time and avoid penalties.

🚚Attention Truckers! The countdown is on! 🚚

Heads up, road warriors! The Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax deadline is cruising up fast! 🚛 If you’ve got heavy wheels hitting the pavement, make sure you’re ready to roll by September 3rd—that’s the deadline to file and pay your Form 2290 for 2024!

Why the extra time? Because this year, the usual August 31st deadline takes a pit stop on a Saturday, giving you until the next business day to get your paperwork in gear. 🗓️

Got 25+ vehicles? 🛣️ You’re required to e-file! But even if you have fewer, e-filing is the way to go—get your stamped Schedule 1 in minutes, not weeks!

Remember, if your big rig weighs 55,000 pounds or more, you’re on the hook to report and pay. But if you’re driving 5,000 miles or less (7,500 for you farmers out there 🐄), you still need to file—just no tax due unless you exceed those miles.

Don't let the deadline zoom by—get your Form 2290 filed and stay in the fast lane! 🛣️
