Members of the Thomas family met at the Town Hall today to loan the beautiful quilt hanging behind them to the Town for display.

A new bench has been installed at the Veterans Memorial Park. Purchased with the help of private donations, this bench honors our Community Volunteers.

Thank you to Supervisor Ronald Knott, Highway Superintendent Joe Scrum, and the Highway Dept. crew for putting it together and installing it at the park.

Did you know?

Leaves on the south side of a tree change color earlier than the leaves on the north side of a tree.

Why It Happens
More Sunlight: The southern side of a tree gets more direct sunlight in the Northern Hemisphere.

Faster Breakdown: Extra sun and heat speed up the breakdown of green chlorophyll (the chemical that makes leaves green).

Revealing Colors: When green chlorophyll breaks down faster, the hidden yellow, orange, and red colors show up sooner.

Stress and Heat: Intense southern exposure can also cause mild heat or drought stress on that side, prompting the tree to start its winter shutdown earlier.

Be aware of kids standing on the side of the road waiting for buses. Plan ahead and be prepared for buses to make stops.

Slow down and STOP for stopped school buses.

🚌🎒 School is back in session!

As students across Columbia County head back to the classroom, please give yourself a little extra time on the road and keep an eye out for school buses, children at bus stops and students walking or biking to school.

🛑 Remember: When a school bus has its red lights flashing, STOP.

Slow down in school zones, put the phone away and stay alert — especially during morning pickup and afternoon drop-off.

Let’s help make the first day — and every day — a safe one for our students!
