πŸ’‘ Did you know only 32% of Americans have a will? πŸ’‘

Estate planning might seem far off, but it's important for everyone to make a plan for their wealth and their debt, not just retirees. This especially matters when it comes to taxes and how this will affect those who inherit your estate.

A whopping 41% of young adults (18-34) and 34% of those between 35-54 haven't even discussed it with anyone. Surprisingly, 77% of pet owners have their pets included in their plans! Maybe they're onto something...

Don't wait - Make a plan to start discussing it today.

Are noncompetes a legitimate way to protect your company secrets?
Or are they just a way to keep good talent hostage?

There are obviously differing opinions regarding the FTC's recent ban on noncompete agreements.
Let's see both sides:

✚ Arguments For ✚
πŸ‘πŸ» Noncompetes can help you protect your confidential company information, like customer lists or trade secrets, from falling into the wrong hands.

πŸ‘πŸ» Imagine a salesperson jumping ship to a competitor and taking your entire client base with them – that's a nightmare noncompetes can potentially prevent.

βž– Arguments Against βž–
πŸ‘ŽπŸ» Studies by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis show that enforcing noncompete agreements can be a hassle, with over half of surveyed employers admitting they rarely follow through with lawsuits.

πŸ‘ŽπŸ» Other studies show that noncompetes can restrict job mobility, reduce wages, and discourage the startup of new firms.

Where do you stand on noncompetes? Will the recent FTC ruling affect your business in negative ways?

Recognizing you need help to make good decisions with your life when you have limited perspective is a no-brainer. That should also include how you approach your taxes.

It's easy to make the wrong decision with your taxes... or no decision at all. Both will most likely position you to pay more than you need to. And you miss out on opportunities to keep more of your income in your pocket. A travesty in an inflationary environment.

But there are some proactive decisions you can make right now with your taxes to keep more money in your pocket. It just takes a little guidance from someone who knows what they’re doing.

We can help show you the way to tax savings.

Noncompetes have been a hot topic lately, as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) outlawed them for most workers in April 2024. And the US Chamber of Commerce filed suit claiming an overreach of authority.

While you wait for the outcome of this lawsuit and are unable to use noncompetes for most workers going forward, here are two other ways to help you protect your business interests:

✴ Strong Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs): These legally binding contracts prevent employees from divulging confidential information, even after they leave.

✴ Focus on Building Loyalty: Invest in your employees' growth and development. When they feel valued, they're less likely to jump ship.

The IRS's take on cryptocurrency has changed frequently, but right now crypto is considered property for tax purposes (and subject to gain and loss reporting requirements on a tax return).

They've been getting steadily stricter about reporting crypto transactions. It’s a fair bet they’ll be even more so in years to come.

Make sure you know your obligations and plan for them.
