COVID-19 UPDATE: The Treasury Department gave filers until July 15 to pay taxes, but maintained the April 15 due date for filing.
Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., among others, has proposed legislation that would give taxpayers 90 more days to file their 2019 returns. While the Treasury has given people more time to pay, returns are still expected to be submitted by April 15.
