šŸ‘‹ Meet Audrey – Client Support Manager

We are excited for you to get to know the people behind Hernandez Financial, so we’re completing our ā€œGet to Know Our Teamā€ series with the last of our team members, Audrey Brandsma, Client Support Manager.

Audrey joined Hernandez Financial in 2022 as an Administrative Assistant and has since been promoted to her current role as Client Support Manager. Audrey helps keep things moving behind the scenes with client services, marketing, and all the little details that keep the office running smoothly. She is a Notary Public and is also a licensed Life Insurance specialist. Audrey is constantly expanding her knowledge in Medicare and Medicare Supplement Plans. She is able to help our clients find a Medicare Supplement & Prescription Drug plan that meets their needs.

Outside the office, Audrey owns Sparkly Squirrel Co., her custom tee business and creative outlet. But most importantly, she’s a wife, a mom of two grown sons, and a dog mom to two very spoiled pups. Audrey loves spending time with her family, working on one of her many creative projects, watching her favorite sports teams – the Seahawks and the Mariners, creating funny reels / TikTok videos, binge-watching her favorite shows and shopping.

We’re glad to have Audrey on the team and appreciate her humor, personality, and the care she brings to the team and to the office.

šŸ‘‹ Meet Andrew (Drew) – Financial Advisor Intern

We are excited for you to get to know the people behind Hernandez Financial, so we’re continuing our ā€œGet to Know Our Teamā€ series with one of our newer team members, our Intern: Drew Brandsma.

Drew joined the Hernandez Financial family at the end of last year. Drew is currently attending Washington State University, where he is studying business through the Carson College of Business. He expects to graduate next spring; and is also working toward completing his Series 65 as he prepares for his future in financial planning.

You will see Drew in the office on Thursdays and Fridays for training and mentoring. He will eventually step into the role of Jesse’s future Para-Planner and assist him with the financial planning side of the business.

When he’s not in the office or buried in school work, Drew is probably watching one of his favorite sports teams -- the Falcons or the Braves. He also enjoys researching cars and adding his own modifications, spending time with family, and binge-watching his favorite shows.

We’re excited to have Drew on the team and appreciate the humor, energy, and personality he brings to the office. We’re looking forward to watching him grow into his future role here at Hernandez Financial.

Say hello to Drew in the comments! šŸ‘‹

šŸ’ What if the hardest part of retirement isn’t saving enough… but giving yourself permission to spend?

For decades, you’ve been told to save, invest, and protect your money. Then retirement arrives—and suddenly, you’re expected to actually use what you worked so hard to build.

Maybe you’ve hesitated over a trip, a dinner out, or a gift for the grandkids because you’re worried about spending too much.

You’re not alone.

Our newest blog explores the often-overlooked skill of spending confidently in retirement and how a financial plan can help you understand what your money can actually support.

Because retirement planning isn’t just about making sure you don’t run out of money. It’s also about knowing when you can say yes. ā¤ļø

For decades, you trained one financial muscle: save, invest, don't touch it. Then retirement arrives and asks you to do the opposite.Nobody teaches that part. There is no course on how to spend the money you spent a lifetime building, so the discipline, the caution, and the watchful eye on every bal...

šŸ’° It’s National 401(k) Day!

Have you changed jobs over the years and left a 401(k) behind?

An old 401(k) can be easy to forget about, especially when you’ve changed employers a few times. Today is a good reminder to check in on those old retirement accounts and understand where they stand.

A few things to consider:

āœ”ļø Where is the account held?
āœ”ļø What investments are you currently holding?
āœ”ļø What fees are you paying?
āœ”ļø How does the account fit into your overall retirement plan?

Your 401(k)s—old and new—are part of your bigger financial picture.
National 401(k) Day is a great reminder to know what you have and where it is.

šŸ‘‹ Meet Jesse – Financial Advisor
We are excited for you to get to know the people behind Hernandez Financial, so we’re kicking off a ā€œGet to Know Our Teamā€ series, and we’re starting with our Founder: Jesse Hernandez, ChFC.

Jesse founded Hernandez Financial 15 years ago after spending 12 years with a national investment advisory firm. He holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from The American College of Financial Services and an AA in Business from Yakima Valley College.

But for Jesse, financial planning is about much more than numbers and investments. He enjoys helping clients feel more confident, informed, and prepared when it comes to their financial goals. Whether they’re planning for the future, navigating a big life change, or simply have a question, Jesse strives to be a trusted resource and someone his clients know they can turn to.

When he’s not in the office, you’ll likely find Jesse working on a woodworking project, watching the Seahawks šŸˆ, playing golf, firing up the grill, or—one of his favorite things—spending time with his grandkids. He’s happiest when he’s working with his hands, enjoying a little friendly competition, or making memories with family.

We’re grateful to have Jesse leading our team and for making Hernandez Financial what it is today.

ā¤ļø September is Life Insurance Awareness Month

Life changes—and your life insurance coverage may need to change with it.

Marriage šŸ‘°šŸ¤µ, divorce, a new baby šŸ¼, buying a home šŸ , changing jobs, or simply getting older can all be good reasons to take another look at your coverage.

Age can also play a role in the cost of life insurance, which is one reason it can be helpful to review your coverage sooner rather than later.

When was the last time you reviewed your life insurance?

September is a great time to take a look at what coverage you have, who your beneficiaries are, and whether your coverage still reflects your current situation.

šŸ“ž Give Audrey a call to schedule a life insurance review.
