Marc Scharf is a founder and CIO of Bookmark Asset Management and has been in the investment management industry for over 25 years. Bookmark Asset Management specializes in providing sophisticated investment advice coupled with great service to business owners, entrepreneurs, corporations, foundations, and high net worth individuals. Our firm has a focus on creating customized portfolio solutions

for our clients to help achieve their goals. In addition, we have a unique niche in insurance asset management with a focus on captive insurance companies. Over the last three decades, Marc has worked as a portfolio manager for large hedge funds, international banks, and advisory firms. In 1993, Marc began his investment career at Cargill Investor Services trading commodities and futures for large oil and agricultural firms. He took his trading experience to several large Hedge Funds and became a portfolio manager at SAC Capital Advisors for five years. Marc later became a partner and portfolio manager at RNK Capital that invested in both private and public markets. At the Royal Bank of Canada, Marc was a managing director and a portfolio manager for their internal hedge fund with assets over $20 billion. Later, Bookmark Advisors was formed because Marc envisioned a firm that could provide objective, unbiased investment advice to a broad spectrum of investors that wasn’t influenced by investment banking relationships, large institutional capital with leverage, and monthly performance targets that clouded the big picture for most investors. Bookmark Advisors rebranded to become ESG Asset Management that has a similar philosophy that also strives for long term growth of capital with tax efficiencies. Marc believes that active management plays an important role in the process. The goal is to outperform the benchmarks on a risk adjusted basis when most financial advisors are just satisfied to match them. This strategy strives to optimize returns with good stock picking and targeting exposure in sectors and asset classes that have long term secular tail winds. Marc graduated with a degree in Finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1991. Investment Advice offered through Private Advisor Group, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor. Will this week's economic data change the market's outlook?

Friday's jobs report headlines a busy week that also includes job openings, labor turnover data, and unemployment claims. Investors will also be listening closely to comments from central bank officials for clues about the path of interest rates.

Economic reports can influence markets in the short term, but maintaining a disciplined, long-term perspective remains one of the most important factors in investing success.

The holiday-shortened week's economic calendar features a key inflation update and a handful of Federal Reserve speakers.

Inflation may not dominate headlines the way it once did, but many retirees are still feeling its impact every day.

From healthcare and housing to groceries and insurance, persistent inflation continues to put pressure on fixed income streams and long-term retirement plans. While economists and markets debate where interest rates may head next, the bigger question for many investors is simpler:

How do you build a financial plan that can adapt as costs continue to rise?

A thoughtful retirement strategy should account for more than just market performance — it should also consider purchasing power, sustainable income, taxes, and long-term flexibility.

Buying an "inflation protection" investment in retirement, instead of making sure your financial plan can withstand rising costs, is a big mistake.

With the midterm elections six months away, early trends suggest a shifting political landscape.

Historical patterns, combined with current economic pressures and geopolitical tensions, could create headwinds for the party in power.

The midterm elections are six months away, but Democrats seem poised to translate President Trump's unpopularity into big gains.

Geopolitical headlines drove early market declines today, but stocks rebounded as new developments emerged.

Roughly 60% of Americans have money in the stock market, but with daily ups and downs, it’s not always clear what your portfolio is worth at any given moment.

While long-term trends have generally been positive, investor sentiment is shifting. A recent American Association of Individual Investors survey shows 29% expect the market to decline over the next six months.

In times like these, staying grounded in a long-term strategy can help cut through the noise.

Instead of worrying about the markets and running out of money in retirement, you might consider buying an annuity that guarantees you a lifetime income.

Investment diversification gets a lot of attention, but tax diversification matters too.

Choosing the right accounts for the right investments can make a meaningful difference in how your wealth grows and how much you keep over time.

Tax diversification is as important as investment diversification: Focusing on what investment goes into which account helps determine how much of it you keep.
