We wanted to share a couple of important updates as we head into another busy tax season.

💼 Overtime & Your Taxes
We know there are lots of questions about overtime and how it will impact taxes this year. We’re seeing overtime reported in a variety of ways by employers.
👉 If you had any overtime in 2025, please bring a copy of your end of year pay stub to your appointment. This helps our accountants prepare your return accurately and efficiently.

🖥️ New: Electronic Check-In Sheets
To save you time, our client check-in sheets are now available electronically!
If you’d like to complete your check-in sheet through our secure portal before your appointment, just give us a call or email us at [email protected] and we’ll get it sent over to an email that you provide.

Fun MLK Day fact:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. actually studied accounting and economics in college.

He understood that big change needs more than powerful words. It also needs accountability, transparency, and doing the right thing even when it’s hard.

Those values still matter today, in society and yes, even in the numbers. 📊✊

📢 IRS Update for the 2025 Tax Season

The IRS is continuing its shift toward digital processing. For the 2025 tax season, refunds and tax liability payments are being handled primarily through electronic filing and electronic payment methods.

IRS Refund Delivery: Debit Card vs. Paper Check

What You Need to Know

✔ Direct Deposit Comes First

If you provide bank account information, the IRS will issue your refund by direct deposit.
This is the fastest and most secure option.

❓ No Bank Account or Prefer Not to Share It?

If you do not choose direct deposit, the IRS will decide whether your refund is sent as:

• an IRS-issued prepaid debit card, or
• a paper check mailed to your address

➡️ Taxpayers cannot choose between a debit card and a check.

The decision is made after your return is accepted. Decisions may be based on refund amount and electronic vs. paper filings of the returns.

📢 Paying Your IRS Tax Bill Online Has Never Been Easier

If you owe taxes, the IRS offers secure online payment options so you can pay without mailing a check.

✅ IRS Direct Pay
Pay directly from your checking or savings account.

✅ Debit or Credit Card
Pay online through IRS-approved processors.
Fees may apply depending on the provider.

✅ Online Payment Plans
If you can’t pay in full, you may qualify for an installment agreement and make monthly payments online.

Today we’re celebrating the bossman, the myth, the legend — Nate Burr!
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays and a fantastic year ahead.

And as fate would have it, today is also International Accounting Day — a day recognizing the incredible evolution of our profession since Luca Pacioli’s groundbreaking 1494 publication that introduced double-entry bookkeeping.

From handwritten ledgers to cloud-based systems, accounting has come a long way — and we’re proud to be part of that story every day. 💼📊

I’d like to introduce Koreen Vodicka or as we call her ‘Rinn’. Koreen started her journey with us part-time over the 2024 tax season and became full-time as our new Bookkeeping Manager in April of 2025. She handles the monthly accounting, banking reconciliation, invoicing, and even some sales tax!

She graduated from Syracuse High School in 2003. She is well educated and holds 5 college degrees including a bachelor’s degree in accounting and associate’s degree in Small Business Management.

Koreen is a lifelong resident of the area and currently resides in Nebraska City with her fiancé, Jeff Werner, and their children. She is the proud mother of six wonderful children: Cadence, Brooke, Clarissa, Christopher, Aubrie, and Jeffrey.

She enjoys being a part of the bowling league at Arbor Lanes in Nebraska City and reading hundreds of books a year. She has a five-year-old pure-bred German Shephard named Meeko who loves her humans to pieces and thinks she’s the size of a teacup chihuahua. Koreen also has three cats named Frankie, Tipsy, and Squishie.

Koreen enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She loves the 49ers, sunflowers, and getting pedicures and manicures with her best friend and daughters.

Thank you for being such a great addition to the team!
