Today is a big day for Altruist and the financial advisory industry. Altruist just announced that they have agreed to be acquired by Vanguard, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Altruist was created because their founders believed better technology and lower prices could help independent advisors build stronger businesses, serve their clients better, and bring high-quality financial advice to more people.

That belief has guided everything they’ve built. It is also why Vanguard is such a strong fit for Altruist. Vanguard has spent more than 50 years lowering the cost of investing and helping investors improve their chances of financial success. They have understood and supported Altruist’s mission since becoming an early investor in Altruist more than six years ago.

Vanguard’s expertise and resources will give Altruist, and therefore, Vector Financial Services, greater capacity and long-term support to build the advisor technology and custody capabilities we rely on. Altruist is expected to continue operating as a standalone business, retaining its brand, leadership, advisor focus, and distinct operating model, that benefits retail investors such as yourself!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me and I’ll be happy to chat about this with you in greater detail. Thank you for your trust and I look forward to building the next chapter of Altruist and Vector Financial Services with you.

For those that don't truly understand how Social Security Retirement Benefits are funded and paid out, there is a general government budget, but there are also payroll taxes (91%), income taxes on benefits paid (6%), and interest earned on investments (3%) that fund a reserve fund. When you hear about Social Security "going broke", this means the reserves are being depleted faster than they are being replenished. If Congress does not take action soon, the reserve fund is projected to be depleted by 2032. If no action is taken, that means there will no longer be a reserve fund able to pay additional benefits, which will result in an across-the-board cut in benefits of approximately 24% for each and every beneficiary. Thus far, every previous time that there has been a crisis to Social Security, Congress has acted in time to avert a disaster. With the deep divisions currently in Congress, with a growing fatigue about benefits paid and the ongoing cost to current workers, with the ridiculous pipe dreams of asking for a plethora of additional government freebies for everything from education to healthcare, there is less confidence that Congress may act in time. If that happens, everyone will be affected, either directly or indirectly. Worse still, if this younger generation that is mired in their own delusions that Socialism is some beautiful answer to all our problems doesn’t wake up soon, reality will provide a very severe wake-up call in which taxes could spike to 80%, and those that voluntarily choose not to work will be pressed into forced labor in order to simply survive. The US is already facing challenging fiscal problems due to unbridled spending on non-essential government programs, but as this report points out, failing to act on Social Security is bad enough. Continuing to push this fantasy about Socialism, though, is orders of magnitude worse!

These locations, a report finds, would take the biggest hit on a 24% benefits cut upon the trust fund's exhaustion.

For many families, a child term rider checks a few important boxes at once, and it is worth understanding why so many parents consider them.

A few key reasons:

🔵Simplicity - One policy can cover multiple children. This can make things easier to manage over time, especially for growing families who want to avoid juggling multiple policies.

🔵Affordability - Costs are generally low compared to separate policies. Because the coverage amounts are smaller and bundled into a single rider, it is often a budget-friendly way to add protection.

🔵Future insurability - Some riders allow children to convert to permanent coverage later, potentially without a medical exam. This can be especially valuable if health changes occur, helping to preserve access to coverage down the road.

🔵Financial support - The benefit can help cover unexpected expenses during a difficult time. While no policy can ease the emotional impact, it can help relieve some of the financial strain associated with medical bills or funeral costs.

Thinking about adding a rider to your policy? Give us a call, and we will be happy to walk you through what makes sense for your situation.
