The #1 rule in creating financial security is to “Pay yourself first”. One of the easiest ways to do this as an employee is to make tax deferred contributions into your 401(k). In 2020, the IRS has increased the maximum annual contribution to $19,500. Contributing into your 401(k) today helps secure your tomorrow.

Helpful hint- Over the last 15 years, I have increased my contribution percentage by 1-2% for every pay raise I received. Making a small increase in your contribution will not significantly affect your take home pay but it will have a significant impact on your account balance at retirement.
