Notice for QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll Subscribers. Starting July 1st, 2026, Intuit QuickBooks is removing the option to handle and pay your own payroll taxes and reports. They will be taking over those for you or your current accountant/CPA if they are not currently doing so.

What this means: QBO will do a cash withdrawal on all the payroll taxes that are withheld from each paycheck plus your employer taxes each pay period. QBO will hold on to that money in a bank account they own until it needs to be paid. While this may seem like a good thing, be aware that QB will earn interest on your money while they wait to pay your taxes. (days, weeks or months of interest)

What you need to do: First off you you need to make sure that there is/will be enough funds in your bank account to cover this. That amount will basically be the gross pay of your employees plus your employer taxes. You should work with your accountant/bookkeeper/CPA to make sure you can maintain doing this for the remainder of the year. If cash flow can become a problem, you may need to seek an alternative program to run your payroll through.

As always, if you have any questions, let me know.
Have a great weekend!

Countdown to April 15th begins! There is still time to get your taxes done by the deadline. Need more time? Ask for an extension. Just remember that it's an extension of time to file not an extension of payment. So if you think you are going to owe, you might consider a payment to go along with the extension to avoid some of your penalties and interest.

We are open 9-5 Monday through Thursday and 9-4 on Friday. Drop offs only. 812-232-1304

Have children under 18? You may look in to the new Trump Account. It's a brokerage account for children. While these accounts cannot be funded until July 4, 2026, you can sign up for them when you file your tax return for 2025 or through the online portal that will be available this summer.

If your child was born in 2025 (or will be born up to year 2028), the federal government will contribute $1000 to each eligible child's account. You can contribute up to $5000 per year. Once child turns 18, you can access the funds without penalty for education, first home purchase or starting a business.

Information is still coming on these accounts in the coming months. Give us a call if you have any other questions.
