⏰ Worked overtime in 2026?
You may qualify for a new federal income tax deduction—but “no tax on overtime” does not mean that all overtime pay becomes tax-free.

Eligible taxpayers may deduct up to:
💵 $12,500 on an individual return
💵 $25,000 when married filing jointly

Important details:
✅ The deduction is available to eligible taxpayers who take the standard deduction
✅ Generally, only the qualifying overtime premium required under the FLSA counts
✅ Not every type of overtime payment qualifies
✅ Income limitations apply
✅ Overtime remains subject to withholding, Social Security and other employment taxes
✅ Beginning in 2026, qualified overtime should generally appear in Box 12 of Form W-2 using Code TT

Save your pay stubs and review your W-2 carefully before filing.

👥 Hiring a little extra help can create real payroll responsibilities.

Seasonal and part-time employees are generally subject to the same federal income tax withholding, Social Security and Medicare tax rules as other employees.

Employers are responsible for calculating withholding, depositing employment taxes, maintaining records and filing the appropriate payroll tax returns.

Seasonal employers may have special Form 941 filing rules for quarters in which no wages are paid—but the IRS requirements must be followed correctly.

Before issuing the first paycheck, make sure your payroll process is properly established.

Contact LM Taxes & Accounting Services for payroll and accounting support.

💛 Charitable giving may reduce your taxable income—but only if the donation qualifies and documentation is properly maintained.

Starting in tax year 2026, non-itemizing taxpayers may be eligible to deduct:

💵 Up to $1,000 in qualifying cash contributions (single filers)
💵 Up to $2,000 for married couples filing jointly

Key requirements:

✅ Must be donated to a qualified charitable organization
✅ Gifts to individuals or personal fundraisers do not qualify
✅ Keep bank records or written receipts
✅ Donations of $250+ require written acknowledgment
✅ Noncash contributions follow separate IRS rules

Important: This is a deduction, not a tax credit.

Planning to give this year? Contact LM Taxes & Accounting Services early to ensure your documentation is complete and compliant.

👶💰 A new account may help families start saving for a child’s future.

Parents, guardians and other authorized individuals may now elect to open an initial Trump Account for a qualifying child with a Social Security number.

Under the pilot program, an eligible child who is a U.S. citizen born from 2025 through 2028 may receive a $1,000 federal contribution.

The IRS has also announced gift-tax reporting relief for certain qualifying contributions made to these accounts, which may make it easier for relatives and friends to contribute.

Because eligibility and reporting requirements can vary, it is important to review the rules before making financial or tax decisions.

📞 Contact LM Taxes & Accounting Services if you would like help understanding how new tax provisions may apply to your family.

⚠️ Scammers are getting smarter—and tax-related scams are constantly changing.

The IRS and Security Summit are warning taxpayers and tax professionals about schemes designed to steal personal, financial and business information.

Be cautious if you receive:

📧 An unexpected email claiming to be from the IRS
📱 A text or direct message demanding immediate action
🔗 A suspicious link or attachment
💰 A promise of a “secret” tax credit or unusually large refund
📂 A message containing unfamiliar tax documents

Remember: Social media “tax hacks” can lead to incorrect returns, delayed refunds, audits and penalties.

Before clicking, responding or sharing information, stop and verify the request through a trusted source.

At LM Taxes & Accounting Services, protecting your information is part of providing responsible tax service.

🚨 New IRS penalty relief could help eligible taxpayers!

Beginning in summer 2026, the IRS is transitioning to a new Automatic Exemption from Penalty program for taxpayers with a strong filing and payment history.

Eligible taxpayers may automatically receive relief from certain failure-to-file, failure-to-pay or failure-to-deposit penalties—without submitting a separate request.

However, there are important details:

✅ Eligibility depends on your compliance history
✅ Not every return or penalty qualifies
✅ Taxes and interest are still due
✅ Some taxpayers may still receive penalty notices during the transition

Have you received an IRS notice or been charged a penalty? Don’t assume you have to handle it alone. Contact LM Taxes & Accounting Services so we can review your situation.
