La semana pasada, representantes de Ariva asistieron al taller sobre finanzas y planes de negocios organizado por el programa Contigo Mujer del Consulado General del Ecuador en Nueva York y la Agencia Consular del Ecuador en Queens. El evento contó con una animada sesión de intercambio de información para ayudar a las mujeres emprendedoras a aprender cómo pueden generar nuevas oportunidades de negocio y desarrollar habilidades que les permitan desarrollar sus ideas de negocio y ampliar sus oportunidades empresariales.

Last week, Ariva representatives attended the Finance and Business Plan Workshop organized by the Contigo Mujer Program of the Consulado del Ecuador en Nueva York and the Agencia Consulado de Ecuador en Queens. The event featured a lively session of sharing information to help women entrepreneurs learn how they could grow new business opportunities and develop skills that could help them develop their business ideas and grow their business opportunities.

El Programa Consular de Emprendimiento para Mexicanas en el Exterior (PCEME) es una iniciativa del Instituto de Mexicanas y Mexicanos en el Exterior que busca fortalecer a mujeres mexicanas emprendedoras mediante capacitación, mentorías y vinculación con aliados estratégicos.

Los participantes trabajaron durante varios meses en el desarrollo y fortalecimiento de sus proyectos de negocio, abordando temas como plan de negocios, formalización, impuestos, licencias, permisos, financiamiento, marketing digital e inteligencia artificial.

A principios de esta semana, en el Consulado General de México en Nueva York, Ariva tuvo el placer de participar en el evento de clausura para los participantes de Nueva York: un Demo Day / Shark Tank, en el que los emprendedores presentaron sus proyectos ante empresarias y empresarios mexicanos, organizaciones aliadas e instituciones. Adelaida Morin, directora sénior de Ariva, se desempeñó como jueza en el evento, en representación de nuestros esfuerzos por fortalecer la educación financiera, el emprendimiento y el desarrollo económico.

Todos los participantes lograron recibir comentarios prácticos, establecer contactos y obtener recursos concretos para poder seguir avanzando en la formalización y el crecimiento de sus negocios.

The Consular Entrepreneurship Program for Mexican Women Abroad (PCEME) is an initiative of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad that seeks to empower Mexican women entrepreneurs through training, mentoring, and partnerships with strategic allies.

Participants worked for several months on developing and strengthening their business projects, addressing topics such as business plans, formalization, taxes, licenses, permits, financing, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence.

Earlier this week, at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York, Ariva was pleased to take part in the closing event for New York participants — a Demo Day / Shark Tank, where the entrepreneurs presented their projects to Mexican businesswomen and men, partner organizations, and institutions. Ariva Senior Director Adelaida Morin, served as a judge at the event representing our efforts to strengthen financial education, entrepreneurship, and economic development.

All the participants succeeded in receiving practical feedback, creating connections, and securing concrete resources so they could continue to move forward with formalizing and growing their businesses.

It’s time for our Mid-Year Impact Report featuring the details of Ariva’s achievements through the first six months of this year! We provided quality, confidential, free financial services to our Bronx neighbors and other New York City residents. Among the highlights: more than 8,500 tax returns filed, and more than 5,000 financial counseling sessions served.

As always, we’re excited by the stories behind the figures.

As our Executive Director, Irene Baldwin, states: “But numbers don’t really tell the story; you’ll meet a couple of our clients (and one of our volunteers) in the pages that follow. You can hear directly from them about our work and its impact.

Clients often tell us how comfortable they are made to feel when they come to one of our sites. "The IRS said its new Automatic Exemption from Penalty (AEP) will automatically provide penalty relief for failure to file, pay or deposit employment taxes to eligible taxpayers. AEP applies to eligible original returns beginning with tax year 2025 and 2026 quarterly returns, as well as future tax periods, the IRS said.

Americans who were late filing or paying taxes historically have had to ask the IRS to waive the fines. The new automated system will save Americans time and reduce the IRS' burden of processing the formal requests."

IRS to give automatic tax penalty relief to eligible Americans, starting this summer. This is a major win for everyone, experts say.
