Scam Alert. The IRS does not normally email Individual taxpayers but let’s talk about the other indicators of this email that show us. It is a true scam.

First, it’s 2026 and the open tax year is 2025. 2026 tax year will not happen until 2027. This is very confusing, but it’s the key indicator.

Second, look at the last part of the email address. What you think is a “O” is really a ZERO “0”.

If people spent as much time doing good as they do doing bad, the world will be much better place but until then we have to stay aware.
